A question from Michigan for Colorado patients

Can a patient in the Great State of Colorado grow their own meds, or do they have to assign a caregiver, or purchase from a dispensary?

Also, if they can grow for themselves, are they allowed to transfer any 'overage" they may have to another patient, or "give" it to a dispensary for a 'donation"?

Seems the Michigan Government likes your States system, and I'm just trying to anticipate what they may do here.

thanks

a patient can grow their own, assign a caregiver or purchase from a dispensary. so the answer is D) All of the Above

an overage is supposed to be 'destroyed' ...

can't give/sell anything to a dispensary -they must supply their own or get it from another dispensary only - now regulated by cameras and tracking forms from seed to sale (supposedly .... kind of tough when you cut staff)

How hard is it to get certified? I read on norml.org that you need to have a "pre-existing relationship" with your doctor in Colorado.

it's not that hard, there are plenty of MMJ only docs that do nothing more the write prescrips. most are pretty sensible and if you are of a reasonable age and can reasonabliy talk the the talk without sounding like someone just trying to get a prescrip for getting high ... then should be little/no issues.

Thanks...so absolutely no patient to patient is allowed, legally. I fear that's what will happen here.

Now by "destroyed" do they forbid you to burn the overage....small quantities at a time as long as you are keeping watch over said burning?

In CO you're permitted by law to grow up to 6 plants, 3 of them being mature at any given time. However, like California there are extenuating circumstances. At one time I and my two roommates were legally allowed to grow 200+ plants because of doctor's recommendations and our caregiver's status. Have a doc write you an explicit rec for a certain amount of plants and the police can't do anything.

not true. I know people were getting set up like this in cali. Regardless what your card states, there is a federal law (over 100 plants) and colorado state law that says 6 max per patient. You could always hope that you could win a case in court but I doubt you actually would if the situation arose.

we've covered this many times in a couple other threads. stick to your plant count #s that the state allows (3veg + 3flowering = 6 total), or feel free to try and play the 'affirmative defense' game, while paying large fees to the courts and your lawyer to defend the higher plant counts. while I feel most will get away with 'a couple' over, try to play the 'i need to grow 50 plants for my condition ...' and see where it gets ya (if you get caught).

We get 12 plants in any configuration here in Michigan; our weight limit is 2.5 zips.
You guys say you get only 3 + 3 plants; so how much weight can you hold at once?

And do you get to keep males without counting them like Maine does?

Well that flat out sucks - you need to veg long and grow big - getting started legal must be a bite.
Thanks for the info man.

yeah it's stupid as hell. so what about the patient that only grows from seed .... plant counts are gonna be hosed until males are culled ... bunch of BS laws from idiots that don't know cannabis. it's the equivalent of men making laws requarding womens' health issues.
