To answer your question. And if these are developed, they will destroy the CFL and LED market completely. I heard about these lights from a friend a few months ago, he said that they're producing so much power that they are comparable to MH and HPS, how true that is I don't know, but I have high expectations.

they're saying better quality light, at half the energy consumption. if it doesn't have the *intensity*, then it's useless as a grow light.

Yes. The color spectrums, and the shape may just be revolutionary in the "grow world".

In the article the OP linked to the inventor commented stating, "Our device can match the solar spectrum perfectly", so like Crysmatic said as long as they can produce the intensity needed for photosynthesis & canopy penetration the possibilities are very intriguing, this could change the name of the game so to say.

It would change the game a bit, just buy a dimensionally correct panel, and cover the ceiling/walls with it. Or make tubes/chambers, and grow one plant in each light tube.
