So... I just won a free $900 hydro setup from my local shop....

http://cch2o.com/products/hydroponic-systems/uc4/

They had it as the floor/display model this past season, and opted to do a giveaway when they replaced it. Never had anything but water run thru it.... I am freaking STOKED...

I'm also woefully unprepared to try to fire up such a large system just now, and haven't run a hydro grow in years... I will be open to ideas and suggestions, as I won't be firing this beast up for a couple months yet... I will have to change my schedule/system around...

Oh well... I'm gonna continue floating on my cloud of joy for another hour or 2 n go to bed, lol.

Congrats on your luck in as new system. One thing may help out with hydro and really needed if using well water is ORCA. It is a beni product that has 6 differant types of bacteria that feed on pythium AKA root rot, or the slime.

4 buckets, plus the res, what I gather they are 10g totes, run @ 8gal mark w/ pots in.

So when I go to drop my clones in to veg... I calculate based on the total amount of water (40g) not just the res. size (8g) correct? All my hydro experience is 5g dwc bubble buckets, I feel like a complete n00b at this point, lol.

I wanna get a tri-meter, but from what I'm reading, its either nutradrip or blue lab, and both are 250-300 easy.... on top of the 250-300 for a chiller, I'm a bit worried.... I am 29 days from due date on first born, and the wife blew the engine out on her car last week... no effing way I am gonna be able to justify 500-600 bucks on the grow room, lol.... trying to craigslist a chiller, saw one for 150, may have to settle on pens for the first couple grows :(

By all means, anyone with hands-on experience with this system (or a home built, obviously it looks like a pretty simple design all in all) wanna drop their $0.02 in, feel free.
