Yep same thing happened to my girlfriend. I told her in Nc for 2 weeks put ur seat belt on. A few days later she came in with a 160.00 dollar ticket. Sucks!! Cause I paid it!!! Hate that happened to you man.
I've read some of the comments below and I'm here to say in NC your not going to beat anything!' Only way is hand a layer cash and he runs to the court house splits it with the DA and the charges disappear!!! I'm speaking from 100% experience!! And a lot more then just one time. These cops do not play nice! :(

Seatbelt laws are another fine example of liberal government telling you how to live.
I've seen cops jump in and out of their cars with no seatbelt.
It should be up to the driver or passengers if they buckle up or not.

He could tell the judge his religion prevents him from engaging in deviant sex acts and it is his sincere religious belief that seat belts are a form of the devil trying to get him into bondage.

Or, as you pointed out he could fight it legally and win. I bet there are court rules for North Carolina that the cops won't follow. If he finds some and raises the issues, if the judge asks him how he was harmed by the cops not following the courts rules of procedure, he could claim his right to due process ahs been abridged etc.
Haha rotfl now this guys got a great sense of humor!!! Hahaha :)
Wow I know were that mug shot is from! WI I been to that county thousands of times. I would stuck to growing in the corn field. WI always had great weed!

My dad was a paramedic and first responder for over 30 years. I've heard him say the same thing.

Fact is that its a law for money reasons not to save lives.

I think its comical that seat belt laws exist in states that allow people to ride motorcycles without helmets.

School buses which take the kids off for government indoctrination do not have seat belts.

i had a state trooper whip around in traffic to pull me over and give me a seatbelt ticket...and the fine is $25 with $130 in "fees." another example of generating revenue for the courts in the guise of 'doing things to help you." so i can buy and drink all the rotgut i want, which is exponentially more hazardous to my health that riding without a seatbelt...but that ok huh. why? because that rotgut is taxed, guess i just got taxed for not wearing a belt.

but fuck that shit, i didn't admit to not wearing a belt, and i had a friend in the car. i'm just going to go to court and fight this shit, and fuck a lawyer. anyone in nc have experience beating a seatbelt ticket?
Yeah I think it's bs too... It's a victimless crime... I got a ticket for that about 15 years ago. I think I paid about the same.
I also got in a horrible wreck when I was 17. Extremely drunk, being chased by security guards... Hit a telephone pole going about 90. All impact was on the driver side front door area. Was care flighted to the hospital. They said had I been hooked in then I'd be dead...

Also...... I just had to pay 330$ for rolling through a stop sign back in 2009... That really pisses me off.

yeah no problem. thanks. so if there is someone who doesn't feel the need to preach ( because really, no one wants to hear that shit) and has actual advice, i'd be glad to hear it.
I was an over the road truck driver for 35 years and saw a few accidents during that time.i've seen people cut in half by seat belts. not very pretty.but traffic tickets are more about revenue than public safety and you really can't win in traffic court

this is frighteningly eye opening . Seat belts: Good for low speed accidents, not so good for high speed accidents.
