A few stupid questions about Decarbing before cooking & Vaporizing weed :)

Hello RUI,

Hope you all are satisfyingly lifted this evening. I just have a few questions when it comes to the Decarbing process before you cook with Marijuana. I planned on brewing a tea, It's a recipe I have used a few times in the past and has seemed to work the best for me out of all the edibles.

Anyways - the Tea recipe I use: 2/3c H2O, 2/3c Whole Cow-tit Secretion, 10 grams of top-notch yummy ass nuggets out of my home grown hydro stash, 1 tbsp of real butter, not margarine, a actual tea bag or 2 to add flavor + sugar to make it easier on the pallet.

After Decarbing (last time I did what BadKat recommended time wise) - I believe it was something like 240 for 35 minutes, It was a month ago, so forgive me if the numbers are off, what ever she said in the vid is what I used. The thing I notice is - There is tons of opinions on this. One person says 310 for 10-18 minutes, next says 250 for 30, etc - Who is right, and who is wrong, and why is which-ever temp/time combo best?

Secondly, I smoke often out of a vaporizer, typically @ 375. When you decarb weed, it starts to look just like the burnt up vaporized weed, and gets that popcorn smell that vaporized weed has. I 100% saw vapor coming from the MJ and out of my oven when I'd open it, and I'd also smell the same type of smell. I've been told a lil vapor/smell is normal. I checked the temp in my oven and it is correct.

I am so confused on how a vaporizer can remove all the THC from the buds @ 375 with in 5-15 minutes, but 250 for 30 minutes or 310 for 10-18 minutes just "Activates" the THC-A into THC instead of vaporizing any THC inside of the bud, especially with the color it turns, the amount of vapor it puts out, and the popcorn weed smell haha.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Am I wrong in thinking that doing this would decrease your THC content, instead of help activate it? How long am I suppose to decarb for? When is too long? When is too little? What's the rule of thumb to help me get the hang of this haha.

Thank you very much! Have a good evening! Stay medicated :)

Also, I feel that I should mention: I am one of the unlucky people in the world that doesn't get baked really at all when they eat edibles. I have tried tons of different edibles from multiple credible sources, mostly stoner friends & medical marijuana dispensary. I have tried everything from Bhang bars, the tea above, brownies from a friend, "Triple strength" cookies from the dispensary, a few other random chocolates/drinks/and cookies, and by far the most effective thing was a vial of "Rick Simpson Oil", it was in a 1ml vial and was made out of Sativa, I asked the dude which would give me the strongest high and he recommended Sativa, it gave me a definite high, but nothing stronger than 2 joints (which don't get me wrong was strong enough haha), but it only lasted say 30-45 minutes.

Anyways the reason I mention that is - Between batches of tea I have a hard time judging the minute differences in feelings I obtain from them. They are for the most part always mellow and relaxing, I definitely notice a change, but I definitely could achieve a much strong high from just smoking lol - Especially 10 grams - but I don't care - I can't smoke! GET IN MUH BELLEH >:D

Any incite is greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

haha aight, thank you - Question though - Other than timing it and being sure the temps are correct, is there any way to be sure that you are at the correct stage of decarbing? Like - semi green good amounts of brown, almost there - all brown too far, etc haha. I don't know. I just feel like I am messing it up.

I really don't see how any type of "Decarbing" doesn't just vaporize the weed and remove any THC content. Can someone explain the difference to me from running weed through a vape @ 375 degrees and being able to finish that bowl in 10-15 minutes (albeit our breathing creates a vacuum which sucks the heat to the MJ during vaping)... and decarbing weed @ 250ish for 30 minutes? D:

How does it not lower THC content?

It is a matter of time. Racerboy's comment go slow and low is good advice. One can decarb faster at higher temps, but the THC that is already decarbed breaks down faster. 240-250° for 25-30 minutes minimizes the breakdown of THC. You can tell when the decarb is finished by stirring the solution. When gas bubbles stop forming it is done.

hmm, you only hit your vape at 375? Wasting a lot of THC...340 I believe is the start point. With my volcano I hit a bag from 340-348, 348-356, 356-362, 362-370, and then maybe 1 more. If you say edibles aren't working, increase the plant material to butter or coconut oil, which ever you use...10 grams of nugs for edibles? I just use trim or avb 10g-14g per 1/3 cup oil because the oil will evaporate a bit.

Not sure this will help, but I make dry ice kief here.I'll weight in 6grams and turn on the oven to 250 degrees.Place the kief on tin foil in the pre heated oven for 55 minutes. Now I fill a bowl with 1.5 bags of chocolate chips and I take a small container and mix the kief with virgin coconut oil until the kief is smooth.
Than put all back in the oven 20 minutes.Pull it out and mix together.I fill up 6 hershey bar candy moulds and place in the freezer.

No one I know of can not get super stoned if they dare eat the whole bar!
