8 CXB3590 SCROG

Hey guys and girls,

I am now waiting for my 8 CXB3590 3000k, 185/C700A MW drivers, heatsinks and fans. Finally until then, i can flip these girls. Never have a successful had a plant to flower, only had grown big bushes but never manage to pass the flowering stage. Still the plant will be veg for another 2 weeks, takes about a week for my order to come in ;)
Until then, I can't wait to see how filled will she be then. Scrog net is about 1ft x 2 ft or bigger.

Within 14 days, I will have a nice filled scrog net. Any lower branch that hasn't reach to the net screen, will be cloned. I also got 11 clones already, just waiting for some roots.. Some clones will become the new mothers, and some will be sog for research purpose.

Nutes

H&G Hydro A & B
Nitrogen 27%
Multi Zyme

My Questions
Anyone else using these nutrients in DWC?
Do you guys notice nute burn once you add nitrogen 27%, even when using half strength?
Do I need any other nutes from H&G for flowering? Probably do.
Has anyone been through flower, just by using base nutes?
What is your pH level set at? and do you see any burns or brown spots?
I notice when i set my pH at 5.7, after 24hours and that the plant has drank about 2L of water. My pH is at 6.1-6.2 - with healthy growth throughout, no spots healthy leaves when set at 5.7. However, next day its at 6.1-6.2.
So I poured in another 2L of water, and this time set the pH at 5.4, which now has cause it to get brown spots. I'm hoping now when it drinks 2L of water again, the pH might end up at 5.8-6 instead.
Take a guess of end dried weight.

Early Stage

These girls were vegged with 100w cfl at the beginning. Until I got my 4 x CXA3590 5000k @ 700A up and running.
Started these girls at May 03, she suffered some abuse along the way which has caused some slow growth for some period. Would of been better to have spaced my plants away from each other inside the bucket, or have had them in separate buckets.

Current Stage

Here are the girls now. Just to clarify there is two main girls under that scrog. However you can see some clones in another bucket. Don't worry about those. However, I might include them in the flip.
One of the girls outgrew the other one. Traits shown were one grew taller with heaps of stems. The other short with nodes tight compact. These were my mothers, and I have taken clones from both of them. Now thinking of flipping them for the fun of it. As the lower branches in the third picture grow above the net, that when I like to flip them.

House and Garden has recently release a separate feed chart for DWC for their Aqua flakes and other products. It was on a paper print out at my local hydro store. You might want to look into that, if memory serves, they recommend rough half strength base for DWC.

I ran h&g for a few years and found budXL, top booster, and top shooter(aka shooting powder) to be beneficial.

their hydro was called aqua flakes for many years, maybe they rebranded it. But if you are in love with H&G, stock up. Manufacturing in the Netherlands has ceased & plans for US manufacturing are not complete. Growers will likely see products out of stock for weeks to potentially months.

I'm getting nute burn now, just like to know by adding water to dilute the rez tank, will it reduce the problem?
The pH was at 5.5, 24 hours later it drop to 5, with 2L of water missing too. So does that mean it was taking up nutes & water at the same time?

Also receive some nute burn on the fan leaves, haven't change the nute tank but have just kept filling up with water. pH doesn't rise at the moments, but i know it is dropping however the pH has been stable after 12-24hrs 5.8/5.9 with water taken away too.

Most likely because of the nitrogen 27% addictive, even when i use 1/4-1/2 strength, i still suffer from the nute burn. It could be the mix of multi zen too. When ever i just use the base nutes, the plant soars and grows. This is the second time that I used the nitrogen & multizen, probably won't use it again afterwards.

I will continue using the tank.. I don't think the will suffer another wave of burns, seems like the big leaves have drain the excess nutes, the new branches are reaching to the top of the screen net fast, and not suffering any damage.

Started my ppm at about 650-800, now it at 450-550... umm I can't take a picture of the roots at the moment, but I know it filling up the tank pretty fast..

Plants use water. So yes, everyday they will consume a certain volume of your nutrient solution. In your case, its sounds like 2L or a half gallon is the consumption rate of the plant. It knows what it wants and will use micro and macro nutrients in proportions that the plant sees fit. This leads to an imbalance in the nutrient reservoir as the plant uses some "stuff" at a faster rate than others. This is why growers change their reservoirs every week or so. It sounds like the use of 27% nitrogen is not helping you. I would discontinue its use until you have a problem like a nitrogen deficiency.

As for the pH fluctuation, its a pretty normal part of a small volume hydroponic reservoir. Did you mention if you are using tap or RO water? RO water is great because it is clean and low ppm, allowing for more of your final ppm to be nutrient instead of dissolved solids from the tap water. BUT, ro water has no natural buffer to resist changes in pH. Adding a little cal-mag and/or silicate to your mix will help dramatic daily pH swings (in addition to other obvious benefits). But you will always be checking and adjusting pH in a small hydroponics system/DWC .

Had to take her out today, and change the tank. 750ppm down to 150ppm. She is drinking alot.
Just going to be using A&B, and figure out on what I need for flower.

Took like 6 clones, about a week ago was it? None of them made it.... tried using r/w and failed with just spraying water. Previous my other clones made it, because I was using a aerocloner, with 100% rate.

Roots are nice and white. Scrog net looks like it is filled up now. Sorry should've taken a picture with the net on, but she looks big without it.

Biggest mistake I've made was taking off the scrog net first scrog net. I don't dare putting the same height scrog net in, incase of snapping the branches.

Can't begin flowering until, I get 6 more fans. I have already made 1x100w with two 50w and two fans on the heatsink.

I thought my fins on the heatsink were 35cm long, but found out they were 15.1cm long, so I got to use two fans on each heatsink now.

I've already made a 26 bubble cloner site, maybe I should flip her right after I steal 26 clones off her.

Light looks good. You put it over the plant?
Just have to fix up the scrog net, and cut some clones off her.......
The 12-20 clones from before have all rooted...
The other plants is capable of becoming a new mother now.
Current scrog plant wasn't bent when I left for a week or so, so I had to take off the scrog net, and start with string on the sides, which made bending more easier and less compact. My whole scrog net was filled. Plants were touching my light too, not sure if they are burnt out, because I saw some condensation on my vegging heatsink. I have to make a vegging room now.

I'm so excited, I have grew many plants before, but never had the chance to finish flipping them.
Let the games begin!

Pumping 800ppm on this first feed... Using DWC method, just going to be adding nutes. Next feed i will pump it to 1000ppm or more. I reckon she can handle it, takes about 5 days for her to finish all the nutes. I will post up pics at every end of the week.

I have spent a total of mini 1.5k to 2k max on this setup. Including lights (veg&flower), tent, nutes & other supplies....

Picutre 2; The clones inside the clonebox, are going to be flowered inside the same container.... 35L.... filled about 20-25L inside.... too lazy to transplant.. lets see how they go with barely any care at all. This was suppose to be transplanted in a F&D system and 2 weeks perp grow. But I can handle the DWC mess, so Im just going to DWC it.

Picture 3; will become the new mothers - same strain, however the other two small plants are from a different strain off a buddy. A strain that my mate wanted to keep. My buddy forgotten the strain name, and wanted me to keep them. buddy given to a buddy to me...... Hard to clone these..... tried to clone a branch but it failed...... Picture 3; 2x WWXBB + 2 x Forgotten strain name....

Picture 4; 4 plants in this 30L container............... All plants are WW x BB....... 2 big stems & 2 little clones............... 2 big stems are each from the same batch of seeds.... 2 small plants are clones from these.. its gonna be a waste leaving them there, but too lazy to transplant. Lets just leave them there, under the big plants.... to see how the 400w penetration will go on them..

Picture 5; using pH scale to show you guys the width of the best plant.

Picture 6; Coming back from a week holiday................... fuarrkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Change the scrog net, into string wrap around the poles of the tent, creating a square with and X in the middle............ Bent all of the top heads under the string..... added 400W inside.........

22.3C / 81% Humidity in the tent. I don't have a intake or and out-take fan running at all, never did.
I got another batch of clones for the next 2 extra weeks flower..... need to make the veg room for the mother, or just shove it inside the closet... more ideal. Need a carbon filter asap too........... they can't handle the smell and are getting sick apparently.... really? I love the smell, and its just only beginning. I'm ready to buy the panasonic whisper fan and convert it into a carbo filter.... $300 for a silent fan + carbon filter on it? Or make a cheap carbon filter out of computer fan, since inside the tent doesn't get hot at all???????? I rkn a 2 small pc fans will be sufficient enough to get rid of the smell and reduce the humidity level...... forgot to mention, the two main plants roots are pretty filled inside the container.

I'm very terrible at writing essay and what not, so please excuse me for my poor grammar & punctuation ;)

you mabe want an outtake with a filter if you need to be cautious about you hobby. id also just get an outtake for air exchange as it will provide a better environment for them.

Going to be putting in 6" exhaust fan & carbon filter. Need to buy a resistor and re-mod the vegging light, so I can change the light watts, to a minimum for the veg room.
Humidity down to 66%, @ 20.7C. Adding 6" exhaust probably will drop the temps harder.

Won't a potentiometer do the same thing? I wish i added dimming to my light sooner!
I wouldn't drop the temps any lower if you can avoid it... in fact id try adding some heat if it can be done.

Already got a potentiometer on it, but SupraSPL or someone can't re-call who, said it safer to add a resistor on it, when lowering the light output to a minimum.

I see some white hair showing, got an inspection coming through aswell... have to change everything now. I hope everything goes well, Ill post up the pictures once they finish the the inspection. By then it should be about 2 weeks into flower. I know that this plant has been on a lot of stress, I got to switch her to the new spot as soon as possible.. don't wait her to be stress out too much.

The new area for this 400w, will cover about 10sq/ft area, but the plants will be placed in a area of 16sqft. Max height of the area, is about 4.5ft, slopping down to about 3.2.ft.
Can't say that this journal, will be a scrog anymore because of the situation. Hopefully when I succeed finishing with this, I will convert a proper pert system, with no veg time and flip them once clones have enough root, cause of my height problems now.

Hopefully, a lb comes out of this.

One important quiestion... how high should I have the light to the plants? I know when I move the plant to the new spot it, the light and top heads will be close, and I know they're going to stretch. So I going to have to re-bend these down.
