I dont know how much longer I can wait. I have been doing a lot more reading recently from multiple growers, and I still cant figure out whether to give them the 10 days of dryness or not. ( I did for the one plant I harvested) I read something by Ed Rosenthal that said 10 days might increase the resin production, but no one can confirm this. Other growers say that it just takes longer to dry the buds if they havent had a dry spell. Friends who have had experience here, who dont mind, can I have some suggestions? Yea I dont want them to go too long because I dont want the "couchlock" high.

The idea isn't to "dry" them. The idea is to flush the nutrients out of the plants about a week or so before you harvest. Just pour fresh RO water into the pots until its running clear from the bottoms of the pots. After that, let the plants sit for a week or two and only give them clear, fresh RO water.

Keep checking the tricomes with a 30x scope. When the tricome heads are mostly cloudy, its time to harvest. Hope this helps ...

PS: You can buy a 30x scope at Radio Shack for about $12.00.

I'm not going to waste hundreds of dollars on one of those majiggers. So RO is out of the picture. I have a 60X-100X pocketscope, all the trichomes are cloudy with 1-2 amber A ratio roughly about 100:1. Would it hurt to harvest them within the next day or 2? growing organically you dont need to flush as long right?

what you do is turn the humidity waaaaaay down the last 2 days/nights before cutting. resin production will increase as its the plants natural reaction to dry air (it thinks its gonna be a hot day) so it produces tons of resin to reflect the uv lights and high heat of the coming up days.

it works wonders

some people let their medium go bone dry and think its dry soil that causes it, but its not. less water in the air, dryer it is

also: harvest before the lights come on, the sugars and crap are in the roots at night time, so if you cut at night, you get a smoother smoke since theres less crap in the bud.

last thing, to tell if your plant has been successfully flushed, break a little off and taste it, if its bitter, keep flushing

exactly, less water near harvest will increase drying speed when harvested. to increase resin production during flowering, you need lower humidity. supposedly the plant will increase resin production to protect itself from the drying conditions.
