6lamp T5 vs. 175W MH

Hey yall. Been spending most my time in led forum. But have a Question. I'll be using a 20x36x64 grow tent for vegging clones and growing them to ready for flower. Was wondering what would be a better choice between the hydrofarm 175W sunburSt MH or a 6lamp t5? I'm sure t5 will give me no problems but he heard the growth is noticeably faster and more sturdy with MH. I don't want to do too much venting on the tent.with the 175W mh, do they get very hot at all? I could easily run a 4" Inine fan and duct out the top no problem but was wanting some input from some of you gurus who have experienced use of these lights? And honestly, if you guys can vouch that a 250W MH doesn't get all that hot either, especially if I buy a cool hood, they're not much more $ than a t5 or the Sunburst. I'd love some input. Thanks a million!

I dont have experience with MH lights, but i would say you'll probably be good either way. You'll probably get more lumen output from a high discharge light, but for veg i don't believe you really need a shit ton of light, though others will disagree, probably with good theories or experiential knowledge.

As far as heat, once again, i cant say for a MH light for sure, but a T5 will put out a fair ammount of heat as well. The heat output of a T5 can be reduced significantly with good air flow over the tubes. I have a fan blowing across the top of my canopy and directly on the tubes at the same time, which lowered my temps from 84-86°F to 77-80°F. Mine is a 2' four bulb (96w, 8000-9000 or so lumen), and i have six 23w cfls mounted along the perimiter providing supplemental light.

Thats all ive got to offer you in terms of knowledge, good luck!
