Yeah, I'm not saying I would throw them away..no matter what I'll grow them out...I certainly wouldn't use the seeds though. Fem seeds are supp to be created with stress induced herms..not genetic ones...there is a big difference.
Im with him.

were the plants stressed at all? fems take poorly to stress, imo/

I sure have been seeing alot on different sites about these new kush products going hermie like mad.
I have liked DNA for awhile but something sure seems to have changed. I know the last OG 18 I grew out from Reserva was shit.

It depends on the degree of herm too...if its all nanners mixed with pistols....well who the hell wants to smoke that? It's easy to pick off sacks here and there, but I've seen some extreme cases where the plant is just a waste! I will grow out my Dp BB plants...I planned it so there will only be the 3 in there and no others....it is possible for herms to make a million seeds tho!...oh and reserva privada....cali connection....same difference!!!

yes i know its possible for a hermie to make a million seeds, not possible for 1 hermie flower though, and i agree it depends on the degree of the hermie, if it is popping out mostly male flowers with a few calyx in the stack then fuck yeah ditch it, but what I AM talking about is a 95% female popping out a few male flowers. which is usually the case, like i said i have a hermie in my closet right now that im letting go for a little longer in hopes to get some mixed seeds out of the deal. some may say its not worth it but i dissagree.

I also say ditch the fucker if it is hermi to the point that it will produce a bunch of seeds, only the grower can judge that, but to pull a plant because of 1-2 male flowers I personaly think is retarded. but like i said im not trying to argue just state my point of view on the subject, do whatever you guys want with your crop its your $$ and time wasted not mine :)

Stole this...but yes there is a big difference between stress induced herms a genetic herms! Perhaps some breeders have not done their research??

Hermaphroding is a survival trait for cannabis. If there is no pollen available from a male plant many strains will throw a few male flowers in order to continue/preserve their genetics. When a plant impregnates itself (usually referred to as selfing) the recessive chromosomes for herming are reinforced, so that the offspring from that breeding are much more likely to herm. There are quite a few factors which can trigger the phenotypical expression of this genetic potential. The most common cause of herming is light. More herms come from someone disrupting their dark period, even if it’s just for a tiny amount of time, than anything else. Second is probably someone deciding to change their light cycle once it’s been established. If a plant doesn’t get a rest period of at least 2 hours of darkness per day it is much more likely to herm. Likewise if you force flowering by giving them an extended dark period (24-72 hours) you run a significantly greater chance of them growing male flowers. This happens way more at 72 hours than it does at 24. In general, the more stress a plant is exposed to, especially during the flowering stage, the greater the probability is that it will hermie.
If a plant hermies naturally it is out of the program as far as I am concerned. But according to Robert C. Clarke’s Marijuana Botany:
“Remember that a selfed hermaphrodite gives rise to more hermaphrodites, but a selfed pistillate plant that has given rise to a limited number of staminate flowers in response to environmental stresses should give rise to nearly all pistillate offspring.”
“If the proper pistillate hermaphrodite plant is selected as the pollen parent and a pure pistillate plant is selected as the seed parent it is possible to produce an F1, and subsequent generations, or nearly all pistillate offspring. The proper pistillate hermaphrodite pollen parent is one which has grown as a pure pistillate plant and at the end of the season, or under artificial environmental stress, begins to develop a very few pistillate flowers.Everyone please remember that this is in reference to those female plants which develop a few male flowers- not your naturally occurring full blown hermies. You must draw the distinction between a “selfed hermaphrodite” and a “selfed pistillate” plant.

So, in my opinion, the ideal pollen parent would be one that you would have to stress the living hell out of...to get it to herm! I think some breeders are just grabbing any herm pollen, breeding with it and then saying "Hey buy our fem seeds."

Im sure they are, unfortunatly thats a risk you have to take buying them.

like i said im no pro, but in my opinion not all hermies are trashcan material, i guess thats all im trying to say. I just see alot of people on here that see a hermie and auto chuck it because of the negative name people give them on here when in fact not all of them are that bad, alot of times they only pump out verry few male flowers and while the chance of getting a few seeds is there, there is still a good amount of quality smokable sticky green bud.

I grow for personal consumption so picking a few seeds out of a nice green bud is sure as hell alot better than picking a few seeds out of a bag of over dried and mistreated mid grade bud.

I totally agree....plus every marijuana plant will throw a few male flowers, if you let them go long enough. I think I will order mostly regs from now on unless buying from a reputable fem breeder such as Samsara, who only deals in fem seeds.

Dinafem Seeds OG Kush
World of Seeds Medical Collection Northern Lights x Big Bud Feminized

Delicious Seeds Fruity Chronic Juice Feminized
Eva Seeds Veneno (poison) Feminized
G13 Labs Blueberry Gum Feminized
Emerald Triangle Seeds Bubba 76
Kannabia Seeds Auto Mikromachine Feminized
Kannabia Seeds Auto Hobbit Feminized

i was especially pleased with the auto hobbit that i got and right now have a cutting in my veg cab over ripening to hopefully herm and give me a couple extra seeds, if it works i will be doing it again only with a bigger cutting.

so far every seed has germinated and nothing bad yet, the blue cheese is looking amazing and the frisian dew is filling out great, im hoping to get some of the purple pheno out of the dew but even if i dont it looks like some grade A smoke.

im pretty new to growing just started end of last year so i havent harvested all them strains yet and a couple of them didnt make it due to my own personal errors (cant leave shit alone) but most of them are germinated and will be going outside in about a month. going to be some monsters sitting at 2 ft tall begining the outdoor season :)

I still find it hard to believe that a reputable breeder will just put any old seed out the door but with all the promo's going on im sure that $$ talks and hermies walk.

Well, from what I hear, alot of breeders outsource their fem seeds to other breeders...which, to me, sounds stupid....but who knows what the hell they are doing to them. lol...I'd rather go with a breeder who does not outsource their fem seeds.

yeah, all these genetics are nice and shit but when does it get to the point that were just smoking Muts lol

i mean dont get me wrong, the bud i got from the seeds i ordered was great but i also grew out some bagseed plants that were pretty dam good.

I hear you, on the bagseed! I've grown some amazing plant from bs...as a matter of fact, I have 3 vegging, right now. I'm going to cross any that are fem with an Emerald Triangle, Grapefruit Krush (fem) plant that turned out to be male, just to see what I get. lol

a few of mine hermied but i pick them off, usually after the 3rd week of flower it usually stops,so wat if u get a few seeds on a couple bottom branches, no need to chunkem, as long as u keep an eye on them pickem with tweezers ,first turning off all fans till calm, it will not get bad.done prob. 20 grows at least i had to deal with this. yea it sux but no sense to throwin in the towel.got baseball size nugs off all of them.

Wow RetiredBrute, you sure told me. I meant a million pollin that can produce seeds throughout the whole crop. Mainly in the area where the hermi sacks are. I guess you missed the rest of my post that clearly states that I grow bagseed occasionally and that I had some hermi on me and some that didnt. The Mindbender, Cent Cut Blueberry, and Further went hermi on me. The MindBender and Blueberry were culled while the Fyrther was not. It all depends on the degree of how bad it is and when it happens in the flower cycle. 1 hermi sac contains 1 million pollins I thought? You could be right and I could be wrong. I thought thats what I read or heard or something.
