Get better genetics is my advice, good luck and happy growing.
With only four grows the focus should still be on environment don't ya think?
I mean genetics would help but to me good genetics in a bad environment is kind of a waste...lol

Dial in the environment is job one to me.

Ya. If you know how to set up a space and grow well. I agree. Different priority.

But if you're learning.... I think that comes first.. learn how to set up and grow then worry about the rest....i figure...

I find that by adding 660 redchip 3 y 1 watt Manos to your grow with some UVA chips bring so much extra out of your plants then you would not be able to get from just white power

Hey fellas, small update, lollipopped yesterday, plan to flip in 7-10 days depending on how they feel.

My first time ever lollipopping or doing any branch training/manifolding so please drop some words of wisdom if you see something I'm doing wrong or not doing. Thanks!!

Got to agree with this. If you're growing shitty genetics, you might not know whether its a problem with something you're doing or if its just shitty genetics. If you have some good gear, at least you know what its capable of, and you can dial things in as you gain experience. Good genetics aren't wasted, since you can keep cloning your plants for years.

You agree that tga subcool puts out shitty genetics? What breeders do you recommend?

imho there are hardly any shitty genetics around anywhere anymore....even bagseed..

but if you cannot grow then even the best genetics won't work

Would never say that... I was just arguing a point that had nothing to do with TGA. Having said that, a lot of his genetics aren't stabilized, which allows for pheno hunting and the opportunity to find something outstanding and a bit rare. But this also means that some phenos WILL be shitty. You might need to crack 10-15 seeds to find a keeper. I think this is one of the biggest mistakes newer growers make. If you get a freebee or two (from many different breeders) and grow it out,, it may or may not end up being representative of that strain.

True enough, though I think the biggest threat is unscrupulous vendors who may try to sell bogus seeds. IMO always try to buy directly from the breeder when possible.

Nice setup btw, no doubt you'll be seeing improvements in your results :)
Thanks and what you said about breeders makes alot of sense. Just so many factors to growing dank weed, it makes it hard to really nail down what could be going wrong.

And for these strains, I only popped 5 seeds of the Jack and 3 from the royal querkle, so it makes alot of sense that I could just have a couple Underwhelming phenos.

Thanks for the wisdom

Hey there fellers, I totally abandoned this thread a while back due to being busy....and lazy lol. But thats ok, cause the boring stuff is skipped (yet I have pics) and flowing is 23 days in so far.

BUT things are going fucking great! I dont wanna jinx myself, but this looks so much better than my past grows, likely due to all the massive changes i made to lighting, ventilation and training technique in veg.

SOO I'm gonna flood this post with pics I've taken the past month in a half. Thanks for looking!

Cob rails all finished!
Here they are in action in a 4x4 tent:

I'm glad I painted the rails flat black. Gives it that extra 5% making it look a little less DIYish:

Here the girls are a week or so after installing the cobs; they really started blowing up:

I should have started topping and tieing sooner, but since I delayed it, I extended the veg period quite a bit. Also, the lady in the top right corner, while trying to tie it a little further, I completely split her main stalk vertically. I thought I killed her, but she actually never seemed affected. It did however, make my canopy very uneven in that corner, due to the fact that I needed to leave her alone.

Do I start counting flowering days when I flip to 12/12? Or is it when the girls start showing?

These are 11 days after flip:

13 days after flip:

Having 3 rails in their own frames, as opposed to framing it as one unit, is really making the uneven canopy a non issue. Just another bonus of these cobs compared to the hps I switched from.
