Hey guys I am currently Vegging a White Widow hybrid strain under 24 hours of light. I have the light roughly 30" from the tops of the plants which is 2 ft 6 inches. its 1 week in and they were stunted alittle from the transplant, they are about 6" tall now. I plan on main-lining these.

Temps for the day time is 25-27 degrees and never drop under 24 at night as i have a small space heater in the room.

Ok now for what i need help with under the 600w light am i too close? it seems the plants are growing towards the brightest part of the light... is this normal? I have them in 10gallon pots already and the soil is just PROMIX with some fish fert and chicken shit mixed in.

I will start feeding them 300 ppm with 6.3 ph asap

Thanks for reading.

That is normal and I think you can come even closer. Use your hand to gauge the heat under the lamp. I think you could drop it to 18".
Do you have fans on them? Make sure fans are blowing the tops and removing some of the heat as an extra measure.

Also i can touch the cool tube with the barehand without it burning me??

That's good. Click my 12/12 from seed experiment and look how close my 600 is. I can also put my hand on the glass and it is only warm...not hot at all.
I don't think you are going to burn them. You say they are 6" tall. Can I get a pic to see how mature they are not just how tall they are?

And btw, you can always just try lowering the light a little each day and then back it off when you think you need to.

I looked over your whole post, yeah i see how close they are but idk it seems mine are producing so slow lol... seems like i would get better results from a t5 with 6 bulbs high output...

OK. And are you using Metal Halide or HPS? I don't think you should switch to something else. Lets try and figure out if you are in fact having issues and solve them.
I am using MH but i have both bulbs, i think i am going to buy a new reflector without cool tube. as i want to harness the heat it gives off as the winter approaches.

Definitely not. T5's, CFL's, MH are all fine for Veg. My personal opinion is that if you have MH, use that! What kind of MH bulb are you using btw?

There are tons and tons of different bulbs all with different spectrum's. Spend some time searching Google for bulb reviews. I ended up spending $130 on my MH 600 Watt bulb. Do you *need* that? Probably not. In my case, I was trying to maximize every aspect that I could control. That said, the MH I used (am using) is pretty bad ass.

i would go 18/6 just a wast of power after that and yes they will chase the bulb on a 24 hour period
