Hey tko, looking back over the thread there are some people who have not posted updates in a minute.

Look, guys! I made it through the first 24 hours!
Now I actually think this might work!

Day 2:

Technically 4 have popped within 24 hours... Game on Bechaz!

Update #1

Strain: Mystery Science Theater 3000
Germ Date: 8/25
Medium: "I'm cuckoo for coco" - puff
Nutrients: Canna plus ancient secret recipes
Lights: AT200 and SGS-160

Well this one pulled through sometime between yesterday morning and this morning. Going to call it today since that's when I noticed it. It's a mystery seed that I had in a plastic bag with 2 others for god knows how long. Surprised it even made it. The other two I germed are still below ground. I did knock over the other 2 cups a few times but didn't find the seeds so I'm really not sure if they're in there still. Doesn't matter now. I'll rock this lone soldier til the end.

And take note of my high tech root receptacle. It's truly a structural marvel. Engineered for success. Designed for results. It's boldly walking the line between function and art. Just keeping it classy. The only 16oz cups I could find were a clear blue color. 18oz seem to be the new standard, get folks drunk with fewer cups is always a plus I suppose. I decided I wasn't going to do anything stupid. So, I grabbed the duct tape and with a steadfast hands I carefully wrapped layers of tape until light couldn't get through. I'll be updating weekends most likely.

On a final note, can I put in my official vote now for FranJan in response to his first update post? That was gold.

I retract my previous statement a blue moon ago, Im in and I'm ready My seed was showing its tap root about a quarter inch this morning.
Strain: Bubblegummer
Nutes: Heavy 16
Medium: Coco/organic soil blend
Light source: Philips 860 watt allstart (to be fair it will be in the perimeter of the flower rooms footprint)
First day in medium: August 25th...today

I'll try to get to it tomorrow with some sort of revised compiled list of contestants. Too tired to do it tonight

I got my first official entry post coming in a few minutes. That first Barney's Farms seed I tried to germinate ended up being a dud, so I germinated two different Barney's Farms freebies. They both popped, and they're going in Rockwool in a few minutes.

Well, ladies and gentlemen...This is what I'm considering to be my first post...Squeaked in at 11:59 PM Monday pacific time, so I plan on doing my updates Monday, but if you want the comp to be officially Eastern time, I guess my update days are Tuesday...I'm gonna go for Mondays if I can...haha.

Ok...So, the two new Barneys Farms seeds that germed no problem were Critical Kush and Pineapple Chunk...Popped 8/24 late night, here they are now.


Using a new cup design...I chose the Critical Kush to go in the shiny cup...Reworked the cup to have no holes except a tiny one I'm gonna punch in the bottom, so it can drain...I'm gonna set it on a timer and have it flood on the same schedule as my regular gals...4 times every 12 hours.



The holes in the styrofoam are to let water flow out during the flood period, as well as to allow for the 4 inlet lines.(not in place in pic)


Here's the pineapple chunk, she gets to go in a regular cup for now, and if the critical kush craps out, she'll take her place...
