(5) 26w 6400k CFL vs (1) MH 400w 4000k

Hey guys i want some opinions plz asap. I currently have a 400w,4000k MH conversion bulb running on an HPS Ballast system for my veg. I hav 6 clones in a DWC hydro system about 2 wks old. My temp in there hovers around 90F and humidtiy around 60%. I am contemplating switching out the 400w MH for 4/5 26w 6400k CFLs. Im thinking this would lower my temp to a more favourable one and the colour temp of the cfls is better suited for veg. I would appreciate any thoughts, ideas or comments that will better my situation. thanx

Personally due to room size and heat bild up I say go for the cfl's.I use 4 cfl bulbs myself and haven't looked back as far as vegging is concerned. But for flowering HPS is the gold standered.CFL just can't produce the yield an hps or mh can.Plant in picture use's 2 cfl 6500k.

A mh in the correct spectrum would produce far better results than the cfls, but that 4000k could just be a big waste of power tbh. It will produce some useable light but not as much as you want from 400w.
If going for cfls I would get at least one per plant, depending on how big you are growing them before flowering, and get the 42w variety, not the 26.
Ideally, you should get the correct spectrum conversion bulb and beef up the ventilation, but I'm guessing cashflow is an issue. Although if you plan to use the hps for flowering then you'll need better ventilation anyway, so it might be worth doing that rather than shelling out for cfls and fittings and time wiring it all up.
Give us a bit more detail on the setup you're using atm, what fans are in there, the dimensions of the room/box, anything you think might be relevant and I'll see what I can come up with.

ok i hav 6 clones about 2 wks old in a DWC setup in a closet thats 2 ft 11 deep, 3 ft 3 wide and 6 ft 6 high. I hav two oscillating fans blowing in as there is no door, and 1 exaust type fan to blow the hot air out. i can carry the MH light back having already spoken to the guy that sold it to me. this is what I was goin to use to purchase the cfls. as hairy bob rightly said I would hav to deal with this when i put my HPS in for flower so i need to find a viable solution anyway but if I switch I will hav a month to figure summin out. Im open to good experienced advice as this is my first grow.

What type of fan is the one you are using as an exhaust? An axial, like a bathroom fan or a proper centrifugal in a big metal casing?
Is the exhaust air being ducted away anywhere or just blown out of the closet into the room? It needs to be going somewhere different to the place where the closet is, or you'll just end up blowing the same warm air around.

2 b honest i dont kno what type my exaust would b considered, i couldnt find any thing on the net that looked like it.

it is jus blowing the air back into the room. there is a vent not to far from it so i will try to send it there

Can you post a pic of the fan? Is it just a small plastic thing with exposed vanes loosely fitting inside a tube? If so it's axial, and will work ok for free air movement, but not so well through ducting. If you have to use it, keep the ducting as short and straight as possible. Any bends should be as smooth as you can make them, to improve flow.

Leave it. 90 and 60 is great for veg. Add some co2 and see how hard you can push them bitches. Shit, I used a 400 for cloning b4(adjust the distance accordingly). Now if my temps were over 100, I would be looking at other options. The sunshine state gets temps close to 100 this time of year. Everything that gets enough water, thrives like a mo-fo!
