i have a question about perpetual grow, whats a good light to veg in? im looking at an 8 bulb badboy t5 for veg and a 1000w yield labs double ended for flower, but am i going to yield only 400w in flower because of the veg light? i plan to veg 8weeks and flower 8/10weeks depending on strain, i looked at the badboy 12 but it seems to big for 6 plants what are my options for best yield?

My opinion is that 8 weeks is too long to veg for a perpetual grow. Whats your grow area setup like?
im working on getting upto 3 light rotation 2 5x6 rooms for flower and 2.5 x 5 area for veg, but im not sure what to do about the veg light im not really wanting another 1000w hid and cant afford an L.E.D. light atm or i would have the 2nd flower set up but the badboy is an 8 bulb 432w for veg is this enough too keep up with 1000w hps? i can cut down veg time if the t5 can do the job

with an 8 week veg time I would say yeah you could keep up but be aware vegging under a t-5 is VERY different then under an HID, much tighter internodes and overall slower growth plus light penetration is abysmal with a t-5 so under the canopy will be skimpy

what would you suggest as a good veg light, my set up is almost built and i havent purchased the t5 yet so im open for an change that will increase yield and quality

the platinum p900 falls into my budget would this be a better yield light for the hps flower?

i was thinking that grow cycles run 1 mnth seed 1 mnth veg i plan on topping and main lining and maybe a scrog so i added time for plants to "settle down" then 2 - 21/2 months flower. im going soil for this grow also

honestly the best thing ive ever vegged under was a 600W HId with a super blue MH but I think a 400 would work pretty well too.

did you flower under a 600w or 1000w? my concern is if a lower watt veg light will make a big diff in 1000w flower im under the impression a plant only gets as big as the wattage but is that the case in 2 diff lights for veg and flower, another 1000w light with an mh would be the less exspensive route but with a 3 light rotation thats a lot of electric lol. i really do like the yield lab https://www.amazon.com/Yield-Lab-1000W-Double-Complete/dp/B00Z8BTLWE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1472837629&sr=8-2&keywords=1000w+grow+light+yield+labs heat is no problem i have a portable a/c i can vent into both rooms but ill need a good yeild to off set the cost of running all

always a 600 the 1000watt lamps are just too damn hot and it makes things complicated, it also decreases the bag appeal of the bud because the heat and added distance you need to keep from the bulb make buds more airy ime.

no ive never heard of that (plant as big as the wattage) you can train a single plant to take up an entire 4x4 area with one 400watt HID or you can have 12 1 gallon pots in the same space grown under a 1000w and theyl lall still be tiny plants, its more dependent upon time, technique and the almighty genetics lol

why not go with a 400watt HId then? if money is an issue you want to have your grow dialed in before you start relying on it to support you, trust me ive grown for survival in the past and its tough! its just like farming, sometimes you get shit yields and have to grind and scrape through a season just to hope to make enough to keep your head above water. start small if you can man and justa add as you go.

Im not the most experience person around, but I've finished 2 grows, both were I vegged under 600watts and flowered under 1000. Both times I had big yields.

Everybody everywhere told me to stay away from t5s for vegging, so I did. Canopy penetration is the reason. A 400 watt hid will penetrate better than most t5s. If you want to shell out an excessive amount of cash for a really high powered t5, it will compete, but at that point you'd be better going with a cob led.

Now, I'm not sure how long you plan on vegging. My last grow, I vegged some chernobyl under a 600w mh for about 6 weeks, and the 600 had no problem penetrating the canopy. The growth was vigorous and with a 70$ fan and the right hood, I had no issues with heat. If you planned to veg for 2-3 months (not sure why you would) you might have problems with a 600w penetrating the lower branches.

I know I'm biased because I've only grown one way, but a 600 for veg and a 1000 for flower worked great for me. i did these grows in a 4x4 tent with 4 plants. I have no experience at hand with t5s, but everyone I talked with that had experience with em, says they are very inferior to hids.

All in all I'd recommend buying a 600 watt set up for veg if you can afford it. I spent roughly 600$ total setting up my 600 watt veg tent (not gonna lie, I went cheap and bought Apollo products off Amazon, but I had no issues with anything they sold me) , so it's really not too spendy. If not, i know most digital ballasts are dimmable as well, so you could potentially buy a dimmable 1000 watt set up and dim it 50% for veg, then go up to full power when you flower.

Hope some of that helps you in some way

thanks for the info, i decided to wait and go with the kind 600wveg L.E.D.. as to the veg time i was thinking 1mnth seed 1 mnth veg, i plan on topping and mainlining into a scrog so i figured the girls needed some heal time too. let me know what you think

I think you would be just as happy with a cheaper led. I don't buy into those kind led's for price. I just finished a a white widow auto in 57 days that yielded 92grams using a meizhi 600w from amazon that I paid $140 for. rock hard buds and great growth.
