400 watt LED White Widow x Bubba Kush

What's up everybody? I had another journal going but I have switched up the entire thing including new plants, lights, and all so I wanted to start a new journal!

I will now be growing in a 1.5x3 tent with a 400 watt VIPAR LED grow light (for now). I plan on getting another one due to the success I'm already having with this one. I have a Bubba Kush in 5 Gallon soil pot using FFOF soil along with CAL/MAG and Flora Duo series nutrients. I also use some compost tea I get at the hydro store occasionally when I bring by a container! I also have a White Widow (FEM) in a 5 gallon DWC bucket. I have been battling root rot but have given it a good clean, along with some z7 treatment and I am seeing new root growth that shows no signs of infection. I use the Flora Duo series as well for my Hydro.

My lights are set to 18/6 at the moment and temps are a steady 75 degrees and humidity at 50%. I water my Bubba Kush (soil) with 6.3 PHed water, and my White Widow (Hydro) with 5.8 PHed water.

I started training the bubba kush today and tied her down her tops have already worked their way up pointed to the light I am amazed at the work this LED light is growing! I have tried CFLs, and HID lighting, and LED lighting in my personal opinion is superior to both just in the fact that I have much better temperature control and I am using half the power as my HPS. And before I bought this LED I did my research, it turns out this LED is made by the same company that manufactures the black dog LEDs that are being priced at 600 dollars for the same model. Same spectrums, same diode size, same everything but the label. So hopefully I will be able to pull a great harvest out and show people what LED lights can really do!

I am still debating on if I want to ScrOG both of these plants once they reach the appropriate heights, or if I just want to tie them down....either way they are going to produce some massive colas hopefully :):fire::cool:bongsmilie:weed::weed:

Here is a video too, I keep updates weekly on videos (or try to at least)

Let me know what you guys think feel free to comment and subscribe the more people along for the ride the better:peace::peace::peace::peace::peace:

my res gets too warm and pythium love it so I'm ditching the white widow in hydro and replacing it with a bubble yum in soil

Nice that bubba has some super fat leaves.

Why not just transplant the white widow in soil? It probably would have been a easy fix. Plants look good.

man there was no way I could take a really stunted plant and take it from water roots and transplant it into soil she would've died quick

Patch that Bubba is really looking awesome!!! Getting a lot of tops on it already. Looks like that led is doing pretty good glad that has worked out for you man. I've always wanted to try a run with LEDs so I'll def be watching this. Keep it up bro sorry about the white widow too :(

thanks man it was a tough decision but it was one I had to make :) I'll end up taking some clones off of her when she's ready and growing them in soil. I'm giving her to my friend to watch!

and yes this thread is for anybody who is thinking about growing with LEDs, this is a 400watt vipar so I hope I can pull a good harvest and show what LEDs are capable of.

I'll take some more pictures later I have the bubble gum inside the tent now but it's the dark cycle so once the lights come on I'll get some pics!

the bubba is loving the LST I agree james! I would recommend this strain for anyone trying to train their plant. Why? because the growth I noticed from this plant in the beginning was on the bottom it never grew too tall so when I bent it over all the shoots that were on the bottom went straight to tops in like a day they turned up!

more pics of training day what do you guys think? I trimmed up some fan leaves that we're blocking out the other tops ready for some serious growth in a week or two

gonna flower with my 400 watt HPS btw this led is great for veg I just don't have faith in it for flower

they're growing very nicely! gotta question for everyone

In this tent would I be able to run my 400 watt HPS if I set it up with a 6inch booster fan attached to my cooltube exhausting air out of my tent and into my room. it stays 70 degrees in there and is a decent sized room. I would also be leaving the tent open with an oscillating fan working as a giant intake blowing in air from my room

here is another idea I had and this one I would be able to have the tent closed at all times. what if I built this home made AC

put it outside of the tent and run it inside through the cooltube over the bulb and back out of the tent. I did something similar to this during winter when I sent cold air from my attic through the cooltube

well so far my LED experience has been phenomenal! just look at that spread

I just don't trust them for flower I will be using my HPS

What's up man?? Looking very impressive!!! What's your motivation for not trusting them for flower?? Is it the ratio of red:blue or is it more of a quality issue?? I've seen a bunch of grows that use LEDs all the way through that yield some pretty hefty weights!! I know some of those guys also use some supplemental side lighting like T5s or something like that but maybe use that WITH the HPS??

Either way, looking pretty sick!!

yes exactly I took a look and noticed that out of 132 LEDs only like 50 if them were red just doesn't seem like I could pull off as much weight from one LED as I could one HPS. I would give it a test but this time around I don't have the supply to do that

I'm using their 300W LED I will subscribe if you don't mind. I would like to see what 400W can do.

Please do! I'm just trying to get out word what an LED can do that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. I understand that it won't obviously grow as good as one of those but this is a realistic journal that others who also cannot afford those lights can come and see what a harvest from a Chinese LED looks like

update! I threw the girls in flower yesterday so in a week or so I should see some pistils, my bubble gum is turning white at the tips probably some pH problems so I flushed the soil out with 6.3 water
