Fair enough.

How much do you add to the base? Say 1 bag of HF (2cf) + 1 bag of OF (1.5cf) + your perlite and EWC.... brings you to roughly 4cf. How much blood/bone meal and bat guano would you add to that?
No, 40% = 40%, so 2 gallon ( dry measured) of both HF and FFOF, 3/4 gallon perlite and a little less than a 1/4 gallon of worm castings with a 1/4 cup each of BM, BM and dolomite lime. All dry measured and fills two 3 gallon pots with ample space for watering without overflowing pots. I prefer to mix up smaller batches when needed because they are easier to blend together.

I only use the Guanos in teas, not the soil mixture.

what about sunlight supply?...nitro bat 9-3-1...phos bat 0-13-0....peruvian seabird 12-10-3...phos seabird 0-12-0...
You would use the nitro or Peruvian in veg ( high N ) and the other two after the flip to 12/12 ( high P ).

There are many tea recipes in the organic section here, but I try to limit my use of teas to once every 6 waterings. Your plant will tell you what she needs. I always laugh when I walk into the hydro store and there is one full wall of nothing but chemical nutrients. Never bought a single bottle.

Alright, sounds like you're set on what you're doing. Each to their own, and if this works for you then rock on. I do want to toss out some other options for other people that may come accross this thread....

I would replace the blood meal with alfalfa meal and/or neem seed meal. Blood meal is *very* soluble and is plant available almost instantly. You are already using a bagged soil that has nutrients available for the plant, so to me it would make more sense to use an N source that will break down over time and feed your plants in weeks 5,6,7,etc when the soil's nutrients have been tapped. Plus alfalfa contains triacontanol which is a beneficial growth hormone, and neem seed meal is an excellent pest deterant...... where as blood meal is ONLY a source of N, and brings nothing else to the table.

I would also replace the bone meal and bat guano with fish bone meal, and kelp meal. These will give you both P and K, and will also cover your bases on minerals and micro nutrients.

took the words from my mouth, stow.
I've done soil mixes similar to the one he's using, sure they work well, if you age the soil right, it's sorta hard to screw up unless you over amend the soil.
I personally started to use crab meal, neem meal, and alfalfa meal in lieu of bat guanos ( IPM), from there I cut the alfalfa meal out and chose to use it for just teas, I've found insect frass, neem meal, kelp meal, and crab meal to cover everything I need, and if I need anything more, I use rabbit manure. I am also trying out my homemade insect meal too, but it's still aging in my soil.
I changed my recipe for my fight with spider mites (fuckers), crab meal, insect meal, and neem meal help tremendously in that regard. we'll see how the insect meal will help.
Mad cow disease freaks me out, and bovine bone meal very well could contain that,(crunched spinal parts and skulls) there are no tests for prion-disease, and it takes decades to show itself. I could be being paranoid, but I equate it to the thousands of people that have died from exposure to asbestos, they thought that was safe too, and that took yrs to show up also.

i mixed 13 gal happy frog and same of ocean forest in a 50 gal barrel liner. taped it up and rolled it around for a while. couldnt find scotts but found some jobes organic bone and blood meal at lowes..got a 25 gal tub that'll be good for combinin the remainin 20% of ingredients. think i'll just mix it up in small amounts like greenlikemoney does so i'll be sure all that hot stuff is spread out good enough.

Why didn't you just send greenlikemoney a pm? You posted a thread asking what people thought of the recipe, and then completely disregarded all of the suggestions.

I mean, no skin off my ass but it seems like you already had your mind made up before you posted the thread.

Blood meal is good when you need to keep animals out of your garden.
It stinks to high heaven and it isn't something I would use indoors.

I agree with @st0wandgrow on the alfalfa, and marine/fish substitutions to the recipe as well.

However, there's nothing wrong with what works for @greenlikemoney because it works for him. What works for me might not work for you. And so on.

Yep, each to their own. There's many ways to arrive at good weed..... I just feel that there are better options than the blood/bone meal and bat poo

Never used bone meal, but I definitely rocked the blood meal for a minute. IMO the only use for it would be for a quick N fix as it is very water soluble..... but even then I would still recomend an alfalfa tea over using that. If for no other reason than it smells like absolute death. :spew:

i noticed the guano boosted the earthy flavor in my flowers.
the absolute best most pronounced flavors I ever got, was from a no-till soil batch that had two harvests run through it already, my jack herer tasted totally different than it normally does, i'm still not sure why.
And I fed only twice the whole season.

to 8 gal of happy frog/ocean forest i added 1.5 gal perlite. 1/2 gal ewc. 1/2 cup bone meal, blood meal, and dolomite lime. put lime in blender and pulverized it. combined all these ingredients and wound up with 10 gallon. started off with 26 gallon so theres 18 left and i'll finish it tomorrow.

Have you grown anything from Peak Seeds before? I had their Northern Skunk for years and loved it. I want to try several other strains of theirs too...
