This is in the LED post. No MH or whathaveyou old school suggestions

In a 4 x 4 what light would you recomend? There is no wrong answer but there may be a lot of stupid ones. :D

315 CMH is what i use now and i am leaning to a full vero setup by timber. Quantum boards intrique me but it is really what is the lowest wattage you can do it with within he space (the law of thermal dynamics says you get the btu of heat like it or not)

1000 HPS can work with an air cooled hood. So the heat is blown by the tent into wherever.

But I want a light that makes it work with a 6 inch vortex running.

I am curious...i know what i like but have at it amigos....rip it up.....no wrong answers just opinion

You're on the right track.. I have a Timber kit and a 135 watt Quantum board... I love them both..

I love timber. Dan is the man. I have a 4 x 4 and 3 x 1.5 foot tent and i will get a 2 x 4 and even with all of the quantum lighting it is hard to not beat a 3VL or 4VL in a 2X4.

My 2VL is the smallest they sell and it is really rocking my 3 x 1.5 foot tent. To the point I may convert my tent to a redwood fixture. But I think perfection is quantum on the side and veros in the middle or something.

I think we can work on that.

Quantum or COB you cant go wrong.. if youre willing to diy id look into strips build (look at the LED section of this forum or ledgardener website as all info with part number for different size tent) strips is probably what is best right now.. and 6inch exhaust is fine for any of the above option in a 4x4 600-650w seems to be about the max you should run your light with efficient LED lights to maximize the space after that it become just a matter of uniformity and spread for your light

I built a 6x samsung f series LT-FB24B 3000k strip light in a 4x4, on an HLG-600H-48B. Pulls 650w out of the wall, which is 615w at the strips. Also running a 6" vortex (the s line model that moves 347cfm) in there, it was dimmed to 550w and temps were around 85f which is perfect for led.

Built it for like $550 or so. Plenty of light for the space.

Hell.. You've got the cmh already.. throw another 100w of COB or QB lighting on each side and you'd have that tent rocking. If I hadnt downsized I would still be rocking my lec.

Oooh I missed that.

IMO, if he wants to use the CMH, the best thing to do would be run like 150-200 watts of strips around the edges of the CMH. Like 4 samsung LT-562B 22" strips around the sides off of an HLG-240H-24A driver on a "frame" made from 4x 36" pieces of 1" U frame with L brackets. Then just use thermal tape to mount the strips on the U frame.

Driver link - $57 free shipping

Strips link - $60 plus shipping

U frame - $20 source locally

Brackets - $10 source locally

18g sold core wire, thermal tape, scews, wagos (or solder), power cord - $30

Total cost is around $185 bucks give or take

Then he will have a 315w cmh in the center and up to 200 watts of strips to fill up the sides that the cmh wont cover.
