Hola Rollers!

I'm doing a test run of 303 Seeds Shooting Star, along with some Kali Mist. I figured since 303 is a local company catering to Colorado patients we may as well show the grow here. Budpatch suggested Shooting Star to help with insomnia. He specifically said I want to look for the short, squat "Ambien" mom. I think we might have one of these kids that fits that description - fingers crossed.

Kali Mist is one of my favorite daytime strains but I've never grown her. I know she stretches like crazy and flowers a long time. This should be interesting keeping the KM in check while the SS stays short and fat. 8-)

These beans were all dropped in Rapid Rooters on 11/9 and they were all above ground by the 11th. They've been on 24 hour light under a 2 x 2 T5. Temps have been pretty erratic in my ghetto veg closet that's not set up well for temperature control. I think they all look a bit rough, but not too bad. Today I swapped the T5 for the 250 MH and tried to get some HVAC going in the closet. These kids have to live here until space frees up in the flower room, some time in early January. Hopefully we can keep 'em happy.

Here are the breeder descriptions:
Shooting Star
Mother: Selected Sensi Star by Paradise Seeds
Father: Ski Train
Genetics: Sensi Star x [(Arcata Trainwreck x Super Silver Haze) x Pakistan Chitral Kush]
Sex & Seed Type: Regular - Photoperiod
Phenotype: Mostly Indica Hybrid
Indoor Flowering Time: 55-62 days

More Information:
Our superb patient selected Sensi Star from Paradise Seeds is the ultimate lemony tasting, indica dominant hybrid. Paradise is well known, and deserves the highest praise for this cross. It is no wonder that there are several famous versions of this strain in circulation.

This pheno was personally selected and used by the patient that provided it as their primary medicine for a sleep disorder that previously required prescription sleep aids. Muscle pain, spasms and anxiety will also be aided with the use of this pheno. Ultra heavy narcotic "stone" and ultimate relaxed body dominate the effects of this indica.

A good yield, low stretch and dense resin coated colas made this the perfect mate for the Ski Train. This cross was done with the intention of adding even more citrus goodness, more resin, and more stretch to the slow vegging Sensi Star while maintaining the amazing narcotic stone this phenotype produces. The added vegetative vigor and stretch in bloom allow for an enhanced yield of some amazing indica dominant medicine.

303 Seeds Shooting Star will take you on a galactic ride for both mind and body. This will hit you like Iron Mike, knock out strength, but without the bite! Very little tolerance build up, nicely blended narcotic indica effects, and the most amazing citrus taste make this the choice for your indica med-stash.

Kali Mist
Type: mostly sativa
Indoor flowering period: 70-90 days
Indoor yield: 300-500 g/m²
Harvest Date Outdoor: middle - end of November

Arguably the top sativa strain available today. With 90% sativa genetices, Kali Mist grows into tall, running, classically sativa plants with very few leaves. This strain produces dense clusters of full fluffy buds, producing much higher yields than you would expect. The plant structure and few leaves allow the light to pass all the way to lower branches, allowing bottom buds to develop fully. When planted outside early in the year this plant can grow very tall. Expect spiraling flowers with a high resin content and a delightfully spicy scent.

Kali Mist is often the choice of experts for their own stash grows. Also, particularly women seem to like this strain, next to the sheer pleasure of smoking it, we received several reports that it works great against menstrual cramps.

We are proud to announce that Kali Mist was improved in 2000 to produce bigger yields. In Spain it proved to be very mold resistent, even outside during bad weather. This strain has flavor and subtle cerebral effect that gave it a Cannabis Cup first prize in 1995 (Hydro Cup) and again (with this new and improved version) in 2000 (Seed Company Sativa Cup)! Without a doubt the choice for connoisseur stash. Gives a very strong, clear and energizing High.

NICE!! looking forward to this one. i'll be popping a couple 303 strains this week as well for my testing, since you are working the SS, I'll do another so we get more info posted in here for em.

SWEEEET! A man of his word...nice work bro. Is the Kali Mist feminized or regular? I've grown out all of Simons gear and have a high regard for it, but you'll want to flower that KM earlier than the SS by a couple weeks to keep your canopy manageable. Maybe even a month sooner depending on how long you are planning on vegging the SS. My garden is usually a mix of crazy hybrids and I'm always fighting to keep an even canopy...milk crates are my solution for the indicas.

I grew a KM cut last year, she would stretch from 15" to 50"+. i loved her smoke, as did my wife for her cramps. i just didn't like her extreme airy foxtail structure (could have just been the pheno) and she seemed to take forever to finish (though not nearly as long as the SAGE cut I had, that thing took 13+wks to show amber)

I can put up with stretch though .... i have 14' ceilings and adjustables :)

Thanks BP.

The KM is regular. I know what you're saying about the canopy management. I am a big fan of topping and LST. I have wanted to try out the Crop Circle of Bud method that Hobbes showed in his journals. I guess this will be my chance.

I'm going to put the KM in flower as soon as my Ketama and/or Afghan Kush finish up. I do plan to veg the SS for a while longer after the KM hits the flower room. I also have plenty of blocks of various sizes to jack up the SS if I need to. Right now I've got my AK on a 4 inch block, the Ketama went untopped and is growing naturally, and the JTR is topped and bound in a quarter circle.

Multi-strain grows definitely keep things interesting... :eyesmoke:

14 foot ceilings would be nice. My flower room is less than 6 feet high. Bondage is the only way to make things work in there.

From what I've read about KM there are two phenos. One is a little shorter with more dense buds and finishes a little faster than the other one that is longer with looser buds. I think they both stretch like crazy so the "shorter" one could still turn into a vine. Supposedly, the high is the same off of each. I guess I'll see what I end up with out of the seedlings.

Woo hoo for another Medshed grow! I'm very excited for this one.
Thanks CAS! Glad to have you along. Not much excitement in the veg room at the moment but the kids are coming along nicely. I'm pretty sure I've found the SS I want to be a girl but my first pick for KM girl is falling off the pack a bit.

Ill try to get some pics up soon.

Here we are at 3 weeks. Normally I would have them in 1 gallon pots by now but I decided to keep them in these coir pots a little longer and then go to a 3 gallon pot. I'll need to veg them another 40 days or so before the flower room frees up. After taking a closer look at them, I think it is time to transplant pretty soon. Some of these kids look a bit hungry.

I fed them today with the whole Earth Juice lineup after bubbling it for a day and a half. Next time you see them they'll be in 3 gallon pots with Supersoil. That'll get 'em back on track.

Budpatch - if you are following along, I could use some pointers on how much the Shooting Star likes to eat. I think the Kali Mist can take a pretty good amount of food so I was going to go around 50% Supersoil for them. I'm currently thinking around 33% for the Shooting Star but that's just a guess.

Let's bring out the kiddie parade...

pre-soaked the Ski Patrol seeds for 24hrs Sunday (pure H2O, drop of superthrive), papertowel the next 24hrs, this AM had 100% germ rate and popped em into 16oz cups of Roots soil. :)

MS -All of those need a bit of nitrogen at the least...but looking very healthy. The Shooting Star's all look like ambien pheno's so far! You'll most likely have to wait until you get them some root space to see what the actual structure will be like. Shooting Star is not nutrient sensitive, and has some tuff indica genetics that love to eat, so get these some poo juice!

EC - I have started smoking the early cure of my Ski Patrol and it is incredible...the yield was awesome too. Can't be more pleased with that cross...but it s t r e t c h e d like crazy, at least 3x, so watch out!

Thanks BP. They responded well to the Earth Juice and are looking much better. I transplanted to 3 gallon smart pots this morning with some Supersoil so they should be good to go until I put them in the Autopots for flowering. I'll try to get some new pics up in the next few days.

curious on using the smart pots (love em), but then switching to autopots? by auto pots, do you mean a standard plastic sidewall with a resevoir in the bottom?

my own personal testing and experience: last winter, tested standard vs root/smartpots vs autopot, and hands down the root/smart pots outperform (yield, growth, less problem issues overall). 3 seperate trials, 3 seperate strains to ensure it wasn't just a given strain

Hey EC this is what I mean by Autopots. It is a plastic pot with reservoir that works like an ebb and flow using a gravity fed pump (Smartvalve). Is that what you used?

I've modified the pot to make it an air pruning Autopot. I agree that the roots/smart pots are the way to go. I've just been running the Autopots for so long (10 years or so) that I can't move away from the convenience factor. I used to travel 75% for work and would not have been able to grow with any other system. I've been away for 2 weeks at a time with no issues at all.

I'm glad to hear the results of your tests. Technically, I could switch to straight smart pots now that I don't travel much but I still like the high convenience of Autopots. I'm trying to get the best of both worlds with the mods I made to the container. It seems to be working so far...

BTW the plant pictured above is WoS Ketama landrace that is supposedly hyper sensitive to over watering and feeding.
