2nd Grow from 1st grows clones

I don't have any pictures handy of the actual cloning, but the first picture is when the sickly looking little plants were taken out of the grow dome and stuffed into beer cups on Dec 8th. the five healthy looking plants at the left are some CKS Rogue Thunder, grown from seeds, that were freebies. The rest are a mix of DNA Genetics Sour Kosher and Holy Grail Kush, that are the sad, first attempt at cloning. They had been under a dome for two weeks; heated, but stored somewhere too cold and with not enough lighting...

Some of these poor things are still in beer cups, there's not enough room to put everything in properly sized pots just now...

So, as I just pointed out in this thread:

http://rollitup.org/p/12191531/

I just moved 5 clones into the flowering tent this morning, just before the light went out. That made some room in the veg area, so I will finally be able to transplant some of the root bound clones and Rogue Thunders into proper sized pots. I am considering keeping some of the plants root bound though, because room in the grow tent is at a premium. It will still be several weeks before the first gen plants are ready to be harvested. The three autoflowers that are just about ready will be gone soon though, making more room for transplants again.

Very full flowering tent...

Slightly less crowded veg area...

Okay - so I need to work on my timing. Or I need more room, one of the two.

Progress: The plants along the sides of the tent are the first grow plants. They should be ready for harvest in a week or two.

Starting yesterday, the veg area was switched to a 12/12 cycle, the flowering tent is completely packed with plants and harvesting the first plants will only remove three from the tent, but then I will be able to move some from the vegging are into the tent. The Veg plants should be ready to harvest by the 29th of March. The "new" plants in the tent should be ready for harvest by the 3rd of March.

Pics:

Dec. 31st Moved new plants (two Sour Kosher and three Holy Grail Kush) into the tent and put them on overturned pots because the older plants were so much taller, even after being tied down.

Jan. 7th: Sour Kosher near the front of the tent is stretching, as is the one at the back. The HGKs are growing nicely. All are still on upturned pots for now.

Jan. 21st: All new plants are on the floor. The SK at the front has stretched a lot! There is no room left to train any of them, but since I they are all clones, I'm not too concerned about it. I'm just trying to get the basics down for now.

The vegging area plants (5 Rogue Thunders and some more HGK and SK clones) haven't been doing too well. They were running out of room since they were on a raised platform to keep the cat from eating them. Yesterday, I had no choice but to move them on to the ground and decided to start cycling them on 12/12. They were getting too close to the light and suffering as a result. Also, I was concerned about potential for a fire hazard. since I have a 1000W MH lamp for the vegging area.

This morning, I decided that it wasn't too late to take some cuttings from some of the plants. I had a great Sour Kosher plant set aside to be a mother, and took 15 cuttings from her. I also had a couple of smaller HGKs that I took about a dozen cuttings from. They weren't all that bushy, so I just put them back in the veg area and will manicure a mother from them.

The Sour Kosher mother plant. I trimmed the lower leaves off and took 15 cuttings from her. She's looking a bit bare.

Hello, my name is...Ripley

You might notice that the fan leaves on the far left have been trimmed short. This is because 'Stupid Cat' waited for when I wasn't guarding the plant for 10 seconds and started munching. Rotten kitty.

So, follow up from yesterday's post. The new clones look quite good this morning. They are all standing up straight and looking happy. A definite improvement from the last bunch that were cloned on the cold, concrete basement floor.

Here's a picture of the vegging area, which is now a flowering area:

And here is a more recent pic of the tent. Stupid cat for scale:

Stupid Cat is a goddamn chronic pot fiend.

u realy should top those help keep short more tops=more bud .looking good
You are right, but the tent is so crowded as it is, there isn't room for new branches to grow. Also, the new buds have already come in. My next batch will have more room for training in the tent, that should work out well too. I'm also just trying to get the basics down right now. After each successful harvest I will try something new and see what kind of improvement I will get.

The old veg area is bouncing back nicely, my Rogue Thunders haven't shown signs of sex yet though.

The clones moved into the tent are doing quite well

Looking sweet! I can't wait to do photoperiod plants! I think I might use up all my autos and swap over after I get a veg tent ready. I didn't want to deal with a second tent but I can see it having major benefits.

You also gave me the great idea on how to set up my light. What size bulb and hood? No heat issues?

Looking good. Last year I had one grow crazy tall like that {in my outdoor grow}. I tied her down and she responded well.

Love the cat name. I have one named Hell Bitch, except when the little cousins are around, then her name is Bad Word.

Thanks, the bulbs are both 1000W and the hoods are just you cheap-o common, garden variety, $30 jobbies. In the tent I did have some heat issues previously; I bought a 420 cfm fan exhausting from the top of the tent. In the veg area I have a little 6" fan blowing across the lamp from a couple of feet away. It's an open space so there wasn't really much of a heat issue, I just wanted a bit of circulation.

Yesterday I checked my Rogue Thunder plants in the former veg area. 3 of the 5 were male, so they had to go. This made for some extra room; so this morning, I tied down most of the clones and gave everything a good watering.

The clones in the tent are looking good; the tall Sour Kosher is doing quite well indeed!

Yeah, I just put a third bamboo stake in it and tied all three together this morning. She is starting to bulk up, and I can't imagine it'll stand up on its own all the way to harvest.

Genetically speaking, I think I lucked out with the sole Sour Kosher seed I managed to sprout last year and keep alive. I'm pretty stoked to harvest the first crop.

I'm really liking your grow style and the strains you are using, they look really good and I like the apex cola. I would love to get a veg tent and try my hand at clones and a vertical set up.

When did you start your first grow? Harvest? Basically total time from seed/clone to harvest, if it took the total 12 weeks or so to harvest. Yield? I feel like autos are to the point in THC% that they can go toe to toe with some photoperiods. I can attest to the size of a auto as my Skunk #3 is getting over 4 feet in height and has buds all coming from every side! Not sure what I like more ...quicker yielding smaller plants or the taller more lush apex types in my grow right now.

I first stuffed seeds into the ground in the third week of September, last year. I kept them in veg for quite a bit longer than needed, to allow me to take clones, let the plants bounce back after the cloning, and finish buying equipment.

I got my tent, MH lamp fixtures and digital ballasts early in October. I got my fans and cloning supplies a few weeks later and and started flowering with a new HPS lamp in early December. In that time I also got the pack of Autoflower seeds and tan them side by side with the first plants, though they finished much sooner. I'm just about ready to harvest my first plants now; I might even start this evening.

One thing that I did, which is probably really necessary for the Sour Kosher, and nice for the Holy Grail Kushes, was to tie down the main colas. I'm guessing that the one Sour Kosher will yield around 5 oz dried, by itself. The monster cola in this grow is what happens when they grow untrained.

For a better idea of timing, these 2nd grow clones will be ready about 4 or 5 weeks after their 'mothers' have been harvested. I'm still working on getting a proper rhythm going with these. My new batch of cuttings are about a week old now anf just about ready to put into potting mix.

My 'vegging area' is just a dark corner of my basement. Eventually, that area will be the flowering room (when I get arount to building it). Right now I'm building a cloning/vegging area in my closet under the stairs. I'm calling that project the Harry Pothead closet. :blsmoke:

EDIT: pictures are showing up now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Since I tied down the plants, last Sunday theare doing very well and seem to be responding to the training with more better bushiness. Hooray!

The tent is packed tight with flowering ladies

And the tall Sour Kosher in the fron looks like it's going to be a beast!

So, I harvested my first grow and am happy with the results. Since there was a fair bit of room in the tent, on the 16th of Feb, I moved the Rogue Thunder freebie seeds that I had going into the tent. The rest of the clones are still in the old vegging area and still under the MH lamp. The Rogue Thunders flower production has really increased since I moved them into the tent, so I think I will be getting another HPS lamp for the rest of the clones outside of the tent.

Here's a pic of the tent. The Rogue Thunders are at the back because they won't be ready until after the clones are.

Here are the plants still under the MH lamp. These are as old as the ones inside the tent, so the lamp really makes a big difference! Both the MH and HPS are 1000W.

The little tiny guy in the middle was moved out from under the MH lamp, into the HPS tent at the same time as the Rogue Thunders. It's the same age as the rest of the cloned plants, but is really small!

Close ups of that massive Sour Kosher cola:

And the Holy Grail Kushes are coming along well too:
