Hey RiU. I am currently using 280W CFL's for flowering 1 plant. I got my hands on a 430W HPS brand new for 200$ Is it going to hurt my baby if i change it from 280WCFL's to 430W HPS? Its a huge difference, I understand that I will need to have more of a air flow system for my new HPS. My journal is my current setup. 7ft-H 3ft-W 2ft-D Cabnit.. I have 2 comp fans for exhaust and just a normal air filter for fresh air. temps with CFL's are 82.0.
How many plants can my 430W HPS grow? Also, is the range for HPS 1.5ft-2ft away from the plants? Sorry to ask so many questions, but After this CFL grow, i am investing my money into some serious growing.
Thanks for stopping by, Please leave any comments or questions you have..

That is basically what i did. I did my first grow with cfls and it turned out pretty good. The only thing is one of my plants turned hermie and pollination the other females and all 4 plants got seeds. But i learned a lot with that first grow. I took what i earned off the first grow and bought a totally new setup. I am using a 250w HPS light with a cool tube for the light and i am upgrading my exhaust setup soon. You really need to take care of the heat problem that the HPS light will generate. If your grow with cfls was in the 80's then the HPS is going to be in the upper 90's real easy. So do what you can to keep the temps under control. Good Luck

Yea i cant wait to use this badboy. I just installed it into my grow cabnit befor my babies went to sleep. Im pretty sure heat is going to be an Issue. So i think i might Pick up some fans or rethink my exhaust. Ill post some pics for you guys tomorrow. Its looks very nice and clean with the 430HPS.
I picked up A piece of glass. but it looks like the blub bluges out abit to much so the glass hits it..
Ill post pics tomorrow.

Thanks for coming by,

I was wondering how much its going to cost to run this 430W HPS / month? My CFL's 280W were only about 30$ a month or so if I remember right.
