2700K growing!

Hi all,
I have done a week of research now about growing with CFL's but I haven't gotten or found an opinion from a more experienced grower about 2700K CFL's. My question is, can i successfully grow with only 2700K lamps, please, I know you're supposed to use 6500K for veg but where I live 2700K is the only option, believe me it is. Ordering is not an option. so again, is it successfully possible?

P.S.-Alot of people may say otherwise, but I just vegged out some dynamite plants with mostly 2700k, and I've also vegged with mostly 6500k...As long as you have enough CFL's, the plants won't mind the 2700k light, and they'll still grow just fine!

Thank you, that's great news but just to make sure, they wont die or grow uber-slowly because of lack of the 6500k spectrum will they? i read somewhere that a guy had 12 2700k 26W cfl's for 2 plants and one of them turned yellow and died, not sure if another variable had to do something with that.

Haha, naw...it's all good. If they turn yellow and die, it's from grower error...2700k isn't gonna kill your plants.

i vegged for years with 2700k, work fine, if anything, plants are more compact (funnily)

(also couldnt get 6500k here (can now, just very expensive in growshops)

sweet, i'll just have to try and not mess up in any other way

yeah, 2700k is isn't hot enough to produce the blues a 6500kelvin can produce, but it will still produce photosynthetic light. I've seen someone use a 4000k and it worked with a little stretch. But i'm sure as long as you kept the bulb in close proximity you could get it nice and compact like the previous post.

oh yeah? how many grams u got per plant? also how many bulbs u used for flower, n what strain. thanks good thread.

Ill tell you right now, without a doubt, that 6500k cfls will veg better. To answer you question directly, yes you can grow with only 2700. I have zero experience with autos but i would suggest it since you are only promoting photosynthesis during the flowering stage. Good look and cheers to you. Straight 12 and 12 if you ask me, no matter if they are autos or not.

yeah they are autos, and the ones im growing have a veg stage of a week so they shouldn't be that far off from the same ones using 6500K also.

i am also using only 2700k but im not doing autos one is blue diesel and one is girl scout cookies feminine medium height regular old plants i just planted today, i have one 125w cfl and imo its the way to go if your state has marijuana cultivation illegal still because it doesnt jump ur electric bill up and you can grow just fine with 2700k only, how do you think people grew weed indoors back when cfls and hps's didnt exist, regular old light bulbs. it simply took longer and the nugs were of different feel and etc. Keep your 2700k light(s) within 10-12 inches of your pots and move it up as your plants grow (adjustable cables are helpful here) and boom, you grew marijuana with only 2700k cfls (the point to all this, nearly any light can grow cannabis if theres enough of it, its more about nutes and balanced light / water schedule. good luck man growing becomes addicting like heroin

also with CFL's LOW STRESS TRAINING IS CRUCIAL! i cant stress that enough, without low stress training CFL's don't get light to the inner node and initial stalk, it will still grow but you will appreciate your yield and the beauty of your plant by doing low stress training and then possibly super cropping and lolipopping it, of course im unsure about autos i do not use autos they are poop imo.

QUESTON!!! Are you supposed to switch to 2700k after 6500k when they go into flowering???

yes.
Some run the 6500k for veg and the first two weeks of flowering then switch to 2700k

Thanks but if I was to run the 6500k instead of 2700k after veg. would it really make a crap? Or would it stress the plant. And a plant that gets light when it flowering can stress and Hermie out for what seems like no realistic reason ... like wtf why is that illegal that should be studied more than space and I

No it will still work.

Its just that the plant prefers the colour spectrum of 2700k for flowering.

Running a 6500k in veg and flower will not stress the plant at all or cause hermies.

I've run my hps...2000k from start to finish with no real probs

Red is for flowers, blue is for veggies.

Which are you growing?

If you had to choose only one, you should go with the lower CCT. There will be people with opinions but at the end of the day, the 2700k has just enough of everything and a whole lot of red.

Both will grow.
