250w CFL lamp with reflector for 15 seedling ?

Hello all and welcome!


I have germinated 15 critical kush seeds from barneys farm and they are starting to show leaves.

Im in a point where i need a little help, I am new here and this is my first grow. My last germination went very bad, i killed all 12 kush ryder seeds... i have done some more research and tested with some random seeds and everything should go well this time.

My question is: When my seedling start to show leaves, is it okey to but them under 250W CFL 6400k lamp (with reflector) ? I am planing to keep them home with me first few weeks to have more control over the grow. Is my CFL lamp to strong for the young plants or is it okey? I was thinking to put the light 40-50 cm from the plants and run it 20h a day.

can someone please help me out on this on ?

For some more information il be growing them in rockwool, later they will go under 2x600w MH in hydroponics

a single bulb CFL grow is never very good IMO. you should use that 250 with some smaller 23-42w CFLs too. and no, as long as you have a good amount of air moving you want to keep your bulbs as close as possible to the plants, the further you go away the less light is getting to them. CFL bulbs have really bad penetration so that's why you have to keep them close.

Right now I keep the lamp 50-60cm from the seedlings and it gets +29C in the closet.. and its 200W not 250W sorry.. i have great reflector so right now i think they are getting all the lights they need, but it gets kinda hot in there..

Correct me if my math is wrong but 50-60 cm is about 2 feet right? If that's correct your bulb is doing almost nothing for you. Yes it is enough for a plant to stay alive, however you'll need to move it MUCH closer if you want that plant to THRIVE.

I have them 20-30cm from lights and they love it! I am thinking to move the light evan closer, maybe 10-15cm from the plants.. I will let you all know how that goes
