250 watt keep it simple ghetto grow - leftover seeds. COBs.

I put in the 250 watt hps to "initiate" a little stretch. I've noticed some users of this forum do this before using the ceramic metal halide. Damn I forgot how bright this thing was

Look good so far, mang. Is there any reason you prefer untopped plants?

Btw I put em outside again today and I've noticed on the Purple Bud the remaining white pistils have turned brown-red overnight since yesterday. Only a few left. So I'm cutting them both TOMORROW. Woohooo... also I checked the trichomes and I'm seeing all milky... it's hard to photograph without pinning the bud down but man, oh man, what a sight! I also noticed a little bit of mold forming... not so woohoo. Also it's a shame for the nutes I just mixed for them :P
think im have to give that purple bud a try

far out, man. A heavy yielder and a fast grower. Big harvest window, but expect to harvest at around 9 weeks from photoperiod switch to get some real good purple colour. I've grown this both under 80 cri 4000K, sunlight and HPS. indoor one had the heaviest stone and a darker colour but expressed a lot more symptoms of deficiencies... perhaps PH problems or my weak nute solutions. Anyway keep that in mind and get back to me with your experience with growing it

So sample smoke reviews came back: very heavy indica stone (I assume from the purple bud) even when it was harvested early. Like I said before I mixed the two strains in the same jar but the smell of the Blue Kush (funky, fruity, rotten chees, skunky, vomit... hard to describe) is hard to miss... can't say more than that cause the tester is mostly unconscious. lol This weekend I'm making some butter and maybe in a couple of weeks I'm smoking a bowl or two then I'll post a full review

So I've had nothing to do other than to study spectrum graphs between HPS and CMH and noticed they peak in the same spots on the graph, with the CMH adding a little bit more uniformity as well as more energy near the UV part as well in the 500s nm. So I'm anxious to try it and will plug it in tomorrow. I've said it before and I'll say it again 80 CRI 3000K is the proverbial G-spot of indoor light according to the dudes in the LED section of this forum... of course now it tends to be at around 95 CRI and 3500K but we're going into serious cutting edge now <-- expensive shit. And I've just learned of a Philips CDO-TT 250 watt lamp at 90 CRI 4000K. DAYUMM now I regret not buying that
Pic of the little seedlings as of today. Fimming didn't go as planned so I fell back on just topping
IDK why they are dropping like that... but when I took out the Mendocino Purple Kush it had a big drop of water on one of the fan leaves. I'm guessing they are drooping because of transpiration. Day temps are 23-24 degrees C and somewhere towards the end of the day straight 23 degees. Night temps are 18-19 C at lowest. I run my lamp at about 20 cm from the top of the canopy
Smallest one is Mendocino Purple Kush, the other two darker green ones are Power Kush (one of the fan leaves didn't grow a blade) and the bright one is Brainstorm AKA NL#5xHaze

Just put in the Philips bulb. Color rendition is the same, if not a tiny bit more yellow, as the COBs; lumen/watt efficiency is better than with the COB. On paper it's 113 lumens/watt
Ambient temps are now 22 degrees celsius whereas they were 24 degrees with the HPS.
With a fan blowing indirectly I can get my hand at about 5 cm from the running bulb. That's about the distance when it feels like it's getting hot
The bulb is 15 cm from the very top of the canopy. I can probably get it to about 10 cm but better safe than sorry

These are my current females 1 week into flowering (once again bright green one is Brainstorm, dark green one is Mendocino Purple Kush and the other two are Power Kush)

and this is how the Blue Kush will cure

good bag appeal. Not too bad smell either: fruit punch, blueberries and a little big of roquefort in there.

btw I'm thinking of getting some new seeds. What do you guys suggest?
On the menu we have: Purple Afghan Kush, Bubba Kush, California Hashplant, Blue Hash, Kings Kush (greenhouse seeds), California Dream (Mandala) and Ortega Indica (Dutch Passion)

Time is flying mate! They are looking really good and healthy!
I do like the sound and look of that Blue Kush, it's going back on the grow list.
And although I haven't grown any of these, my first choice would be Bubba Kush (also on my list) and then the Ortega Indica. But seen as you are going for the heavy Indica dominant strain and I know you love your colour, I have a sneaky feeling you will go for the Purple Afghan Kush!

Nice to know you're still around, man

Absolutely! The Purple Afghan Kush is a must! I've been eyeing it long before it became available to purchase from my local vendor. And Dinafem won an award with this strain a few days ago here in Spain at expo grow. I'm tempted by Mandala as well, they spread out good vibes and accurate and detailed information about growing indoors as well as out. Plus them landrace genetics!
Ultimately I'm looking to get 4-6 different strains

On the Blue Kush keep a longer veg time and don't expect much stretch or much yield. Expect leafy buds that form a starfish shape with the tips pointing upwards towards the light. Everything else is pretty awesome about it. The high is hard to describe but there is a warmness and tranquility that engulfs your body; also things might become a little slow but I've never found that to happen with cannabutter <-- maybe I was in a good mood as well, being close to my significant other. Stress is gone... and the rest is up to you to discover :)

I'm always knocking about mate, I may surprise you one day with another grow journal!
I'd love to see you do the Purple Afghan Kush!
And that was an amazing smoke/stone/high report on the Blue Kush! I am intrigued!
By the sounds of it, the Ortega Indica would be right up your street, very medicinal stone, hopefully no anxiety or paranoid downsides to it!

your sense of smell is definitely fucked. lol Been there. You get used to it, I guess. Take a small sample in a jar and move it to a different place like your car or a different house. Open it up and it will reek to high heaven.

I bagged the 6 ounce up, put it in a box and taped it up, looked just like a parcel from Amazon! Couldn't get parked outside my mates house, so had to walk up the road carrying the box and it fucking stunk! lol
