Hello fellow riu's, been slammed w/ work the past few months so didn't get seeds this summer. Got lucky and got an oz that had a couple seeds in it. 2 5gal buckets as you can see. Just re topped the sad looking one. Any advice on maximizing the small grow I will have. Leaves are only at five blades at this point and plants are relatively small so they are still pretty young plants. Wondering if I should lst, or just let em go to get the most of a grow such as this.

First attempt at an outdoor scrog. Decided to go this route for a couple reasons. I'm very limited on space and wanted to maximize my yield given I am only growing 2 plants this year. Also I have never scrogged outdoors. I waited until just yesterday to put 1 under and gave it 3 ft x 2 ft of net so I think it should be enough.
Any advice on outdoor scrog would be great, done it indoors a few times and had great results.

Still no sign of sex yet here in the south. Quite a bit of rain lately as well. Rigging some sort of light proof umbrella system is gonna be a must. Also hoping I don't get root bound. Not sure if I should add soil to the top of the bucket when I go to clean up under screen. Any suggestion are appreciated.

@crossfade69 what up bro, haven't seen a thread from ya this year. Still admire your work from last year. How goes it?

Still no pistols, no calyx's, no signs of pre-flower. Have noticed what seems like rapid growth, so we'll see soon either way. I might have to replace with a bigger screen if flower holds off too much longer.

Signs of female pre flowers today. I found 2 pistols on the back side of the screen that gets more light deprivation. I'll start bloom nutes on the next feeding. No sign of caterpillars yet, but I ordered safer's organic caterpillar killer. Not sure if I should start that as soon as I get it or wait for symptoms.
Suggestions welcome..

So I've seen this before, but I noticed this morning so excited of my stems are turning purple. The temperature is no where near low enough to cause this. the exact genetics are unknown as well. If someone with more experience could help me, the plants look healthy. Should I be worried about nute deficiency or is it just part of the start of flower.

I feel like it's just the plant turning it's attention elsewhere like the tops flower concerns.

Epsom salt/magnesium will fix purple stems if it's a deficiency. Otherwise it's just the plant

Thanks TGchunk, but now I really feel like it's just a genetics thing, because both plants look extremely happy.
I found my first caterpillar today which I will be spraying for as soon as soon as that safer brand organic caterpillar product gets here. I also ordered spidermite predators from march biological to combat that issue.
Did the usual tucking and weaving today, maybe for the last time.
I really could not find any good photos or threads on anyone doing and outdoor scrog so I'm really hoping all goes well here.

Cleaned up under the screen yesterday, looking pretty clean so far.
Had first big rain & wind storm early this morning. Will be rigging rain guard in the next day or so. Actually had the main branch on regular bucket grow split to about an inch down the stalk. I duct tapped it, then poured hot wax over the opening to seal it and literally the leaves were all reaching for the sky, saying they're prayers as crossfade69 likes to say.
So I'm very impressed so far with the strength & durability of this particular strain and pheno. Now if I can just figure out what the hell it is...;)

Nice plants, mine got stunted and are about same size u will get some decent yield.
Use molasses its a catalyst in conjuction with ur food

Wouldn't wax it, since the plant will grow and the wax won't seal anymore after few days only.. it's not healthy throwing hot stuff on the plant too ;)

@Miko2
Does.it count for something that I dripped it and didn't throw?:p..
I'm sure you are right and.it wasn't the best thing but last year I had a branch break and rain and moisture caused it to mold. I was just trying to seal it with something really fast, but you are right I'm sure.

@crownfreak900
Do you just put molasses in your water or what, how do you apply it?

Placing it slowly on the node's top and letting the sun melt it is the best way.. but only if you do it slowly and pray

lol I'm just saying you could use the opportunity and split the 2 stems even more than the topping you already did.., better sun for the 2 sides :)
Maybe it's possible to alcohol it to block the plants' wounds .. than Neem-oil the plant and I guess it'll be fine

See that's actually exactly how it happened. I had been pulling the two main branches down and taping fan leaves to the bucket. Well as soon as I saw the pistols I knew I didn't have much longer to lst so I was pulling em down again and Snap! So what should I have done to protect the exposed parts of the branches just tapped em seperatly?

It should heal by it's own .. you just need to make sure it doesn't get infected by something in the first few days..
