Ok I thought I would throw up a discussion thread for my grow journal in case anyone wanted to talk about it. So here is my arrangment. I have a very good friend that I work with on my grows. He has his grow and I have mine, but we work together, allow me to explain. I don't have the room right now to start my plants 2-3 months early indoors. My friends does, and he is good at cloning... So I buy the seeds in the strains I want, he starts them indoors a couple months early for me. In return for starting my plants, I have him top the for me before I take them outside and he gets as many clones as he wants to keep for himself. It's a win/ win situation if you ask me.

So for this year, I decided to pop 2 Frisian Dew, 2 Blueberry Gum, and a pic-n-mix 8 Ball Kush. My preferred method of germination is to use the large peat pellets designed for tomato plants. They work great when used in conjunction with a humidity dome and a heating pad. I have had near 100% germination rates using this setup in the past when popping around 50 seeds at a time. I think I got an immature or bad seed in the batch.

I will be growing in 15 gallon root pots this summer. I had good luck with 7 gallon pots before and want to see if a larger pot will increse yeild. I am planning on using fox farm ocean Forrest as the base for my soil mix this summer. I will probably try mixing a cheaper organic soil with it. Maybe the miracle grow organic potting soil. Also thought I would mix in some water release crystals and either mushroom compost or composted cow manure. I don't want to have several hundred dollars wrapped up into my soil mixture this year. Another year I'd really like to try a TLO soil mix like subcool's super soil.

I just started my first outdoor grow for this season. I'm using 7 gallon pots for my plants, but they're indica so I'm assuming plenty of space. If you haven't used subcool's super soil mix I would recommend it, it's what I'm using in the 7 gallon pots as well as a black gold mix on top so the high nutrient soil at the bottom doesn't burn the roots. Are you growing a sativa dominant species? I am curious.

I hope you don't mind me commenting on your journal.

If you wanted to check out my grow its in my sub at the bottom

*turns out we both have a very similar situation. The reason I know the subcool soil is a great mix is from the friend I know that grows as well ( he has the mother in a subcool soil mixture with black gold soil as well ) That's how I got my 4 blue cheese clones. :leaf::-P

Blueberry Gum is Indica, 8 Ball Kush is mostly Indica, and Frisian Dew is a hybrid but from my past experience, it's grow structure is that of an Indica. I grew in 7gal root pots a couple years ago. They worked alright but I want to give 15 gal pots a try this year.

I have actually decided to use a super soil recipe. I have the blood meal, bone meal, Epsom salts, and I will be using fox farm ocean forest as my base mix. I just started gathering my mix ingredients

Btw, post all you like. This is the grow journal discussion thread, not the actual grow journal. Discussion and posts is what this thread is for

Have you heard of compost tea? This year i finally made some and my plants EXPLODED with growth. I have 3 Lemon Skunk 1 in 10 gallon breathable pots and one had what looked like cal mag deficiency. I added all kinds of supplements that didn't do squat until i added the tea. Next day the girl was 3 inches taller and all deficiency signs were gone. It works great for outdoor plants. Try it and you will see an all around improvement of plant vigor.

THC..Matoes, definitely going to be trying the compost tea method with my plants. I know for a certainty that my supersoil mix is nutrient packed however once my plants enter their flowering cycle I'm going to begin flooding them with nutrients an especially heavy phosphorus blend of compost tea for their flowers.

I have heard of compost teas.... Never used them though. I was thinking of just buying a bat guano compost tea that is all organic and guaranteed not to burn your plants. I was only going to use it during flower though. Was also going to use some type of carb nute during flower

Azomite trace minerals came in the mail today... Not to find my last couple items and I will be all set! Lime shouldn't be too hard to find but I'm not sure about the rock phosphate... Have never looked for it before

Well I slacked off and did not get everything I needed for the super soil mix I was planning so instead I am planning on using fox farms ocean forest as a base and I mixed in a bunch of organic garden compost, some organic store bought fertilizer and a bunch of moisture control silica crystals and we are going to use that instead of a super soil mix this summer and see how it works out. I will save all the other ingredients next summer in a super soil mix

If you want to save a bunch of money time and energy...buy garden tone to add to soil. It is by espoma and works amazing. If you have an agway they sell it in 40 lb bags. About 1 lb per plant seems like a great amount to start with...but more hasn't hurt so far.
