You can also just use 2 bales of Sunshine mix #4 but this is my last choice and plants growing in this may not complete properly with this “Just add water” method of soil growing.
Hey sub - If you use 2 bales in ur recipe then that would be 1/2 strength compared to if you use 8 bags of soil. Roots bags are 1.5 cuft which is 7.5 gallons of soil, in a bale of sunshine mix is a 3.8 cuft COMPRESSED bag that expands out to almost 7.2 cuft of soil. so if u used 2 then you would have almost 16 bags of roots soil so one would need to double up all the ingredients to make the same strength, which would lead to having to mix nutes up towards then.

That would be why I said last choice.
That was the recipe I used before I kept changing the recipe and arriving at the Roots one which works really good.
I think I kinda make your point for you in that text???

Subcool.... this is an amazing thread. Thank you for all of the effort involved in sharing your knowledge with the community.

Ill be mixing a batch of this super soil in the coming days and Ive started to source all of the ingredients. The powdered Cal/Mag is proving problematic, I see plenty of nutritional supplements that are Cal/Mag Citrate however no powdered Cal/Mag that is specifically for horticultural purposes. Do you have a recommended brand that you use?

Sub says he vegs for a full 60 days, but he flowers with 1000w or more I guess. Would I be able to veg that long and flower with only a 400w CMH. I know he tops to get more colas and to control height, but I am still worried that my 400w wouldn't efficiently flower a plant that has been vegged for 60 days.. any thoughts?

Hi Subcool...

It's good to see where you're hanging your hat these days... I was one of your supporters over at Mar P (dirtyolsouth) and I wish things would have gone different but thanks so much for all the help you gave over there...

I'm still rocking with Supersoil and i LOVE it... I've got a very nice Space Queen plant at week 5 of 12/12 now and she is gobbling up the organics... I have a pal who's sending Agent Orange and Jack the Ripper in a couple weeks too and those will be fun...

Have you heard of a trace element and phosphates product called Agricola?

http://www.soilminerals.com/Agricola%27s%20Best%20Main%20Page.htm

I ordered some and I'm giving it a go with the supersoil I'm cooking up this summer to get me thru fall and winter... It really has a wide spectrum of trace elements so I'm hoping it will only help things... They send it USPS Priority Mail and it's kinda funny... You know the slogan... "If it fits, it ships!" Well their two bags of rock dust etc fit in a Medium USPS Priority Mail box and it's like getting a brick in the mail, lol... They really get their money's worth out of the USPS...

Thanks again bro...

Peace!

Subcool,
If your still checking on this great post, How much does this recipe make in gallons? I use 5 gal square pots, thats why im asking in gallons and not weight. You probally answered this already i just didnt see it. Im glad i came across your post, i just started a topic on if i could or re use my FFOF since i grow indoors.
Also, with your recipe, can i use the same soil for 2-3 grows or would it be best to switch?
Thanks for your time

No clue its been weighed and messured and this question asked and answered multiple times in the main 84 page soil thread.
I do not re -use the soil it would have to be stored and inoculated.

My bad, Im new here. I didnt know there was a prevouse soil thread. I figured you probally couldnt re use the soil. My elbow/arm just got smashed beyond repair and lookimg for a short cut on the labor. Got to learn to do stuff with my left arm/elbow/hand now
Also, I have 1 more question that im hesitant to ask becouse its not your strain so i dont want to piss you off. How much Super Soil should I use with Super Lemon Haze??? And your Querkle (o.k, so 2 questions) i havnt got the querkle yet but am going to very soon, its a very beutiful strain

Anyone knows the EC of the Roots Organics soil? I have a feeling the Royalty mix could do the job...

Yep, i agree, way more than just those 2 but i was just refering to the front of the bag. usually for some reason they specificaly state those 2 ingrediants on the front of the bag in bold, and the all the rest of the good stuff on the back in little letters (wich sucks becouse i have bad eyes). As for the Royalty mix i have no idea man. If it looks good on the "ingrediants" then i dont see why not but this is Subs thread and dont want to give any bad advice and i know next to nothing compared to him and many many others here.
