werddddd I shall try this method, but what about using a few dryer sheets instead of a net bag? do the sheets wear thin after a while or something?

I have a bottle that i popped holes in the bottom of filled with dryer sheets that i exhale smoke out of while smoking in my room. (You can smell it, but not 1/8th as bad as just exhaling.)

i am really lookin for a filter diy for 2 x 400 Watt, 18 plants.
this means a 800 m3/hour fan.

this looks a bit too small for 800 watt.

any experiences of making this yourself (the big ones, like advertized by growshops are not available in shops where i grow, diy is my only option for now).

would be very happy with a link, also nice if it comes with some math about area of the filter and thickness of the carbonlayer.

not much hope but trying my luck.

Oh and if u got the carbon loose filled they would float about and there would be a wear on the dryer sheet. much quicker than the panty hose... Might want to add a plumber trait and put a few 90 degree bends...

I have a super sun 2 reflector with 6" EcoPlus inline fan 440cfm. My duct is attached to the left side of relfector but the right side is open, so I would be sucking through the filter. How might I attach this filter to the reflector, the actuall opening is 5 3/4" across.

do you have a filter in mind?

Use a 6" core filter and connect it to a short section of ducting. Crush the ducting down on the open side of the reflector and the filter cap.

Just make sure you use 2 chains to hang the filter and move it equaly with the fan.

If you have a complete open end on that reflector (read: no end cap at all let alone a vacant tube start) then you will have to fashion something out of sheet metal and hvac tubing to do what I just said.

Ok so here it is.

Get 1 x cotton air filter. You can get these really cheap from car modiying shop or e bay. Cheap and nasty works fine cos we are only trying to keep carbon in and not stop microscopic particles of dust out of an engine.

Get a bag of activated carbon. Got mine from a pet shop.

Turn filter upside down.

Open bag of carbon cutting only one end of net bag and pour into the filter, tapping the filter as you go along to make sure it is filled properly. Fill up to neck. Some people like to crush carbon but this works for me and if it ain"t broke.............

Get a piece of pvc pipe or a bend as i have.

Place net bag over one end. (preferably the end that fits into the filter.

Insert into filter and tighten the jubilee clip on the filter.

That is it. Works gret on small grow boxes. Just clamp it to your exhaust.
what about a filter that looks similar to that for a vacum cleaner......!

This is brilliant man, i have been searcing for months on a cheap easy way and this made the light bulb come on bro'!!!!

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! Thats all I can say brother....this is a MUST HAVE for a micro cab. This is the most economical and efficient carbon filter I have run across which is why I decided to make mine based off this design. Totally easy & less than $18!

$1 panty hose @ dolla sto
$10.99 air filter @ auto shop
$7.00 activated carbon @ pet store

excellent airflow also....couldn't have exceeded my expectations more. thanks again bro!
