2 hours on 1 hour off?

due to heat issues, i'm needing a good way of keeping the light and room cool. Would it be ok for the plants for the lights to be on for two hours, and then off for one to let it cool and continue this pattern throughout the day? Or would it fuck up their whole light schedule and the plants not accept it?
