I recently bought 2 cheap Chinese made led lights 300w each in a 2x4x5 grow tent . I'm looking to either get rid of them and get 1 good led light or add a decent cob light or another led light to help the weak LEDs I have this is my first grow i have 3 autos and a photo standard gem seed in veg stages. This is my first attempt at growing and I have quickly realized cheap is not good when it comes to led lights . Plants seem to be fine for now but think they will quickly out grow the lights

What brand/model, and how many actual watts are your current lights? They are advertised as 300 watt, but I'm sure that isn't their true watts at the wall. Probably more like 120 watts each.

Are you handy enough to build a DIY light? Maybe look at quantum boards, good cobs (cobkits.com is a good source if you are a DIYer), or led strips if you can build your own.

I would recommend between 240 and 400 true watts for that area -- 30 to 50 watts per square foot. In all honesty, your lights are not even in the same league as quality leds, but they may work well enough to get you through this grow. People have grown decent buds with blurple leds...

All spectrums are needed and found in white lights. Adding a bit of 450 and 630 does enhance all phases

I just finished a couple grows with similar blurple LEDs. You can get some okay bud if you keep the fan leaves trimmed and don't overcrowd, but your right that your not gonna get a crazy yield with those lights. My experience was the buds just don't pack on much weight. Got about .4 g/watt (my "300 watt" lights were 120 true watts each). So the moral of that story is you can ride these lights out for the rest of the grow if you want and then upgrade. Otherwise, look at DIY COB or Quantum Board or check out Timber Grow Lights if budget isn't a huge concern. I wound up getting a 315 CMH after giving up on the cheapo LEDs but I just started using it so I don't have much of an opinion yet.

What difference in temperature regulation do you experience between the blurples and cmh?

Get a HLG 260w kit OR DIY yourself some LED strips OR DIY a cob set up OR buy a premade cob set up from timber.

The CMH clearly throws more heat than the blurples but its hard to say exactly how much. I added a bigger exhaust along with the light. My 32"x32"x62" tent is hanging around 78 degrees F with an ambient temperature of about 60 degrees if that's helpful. CMH is dimmed to 75% and my 220cfm exhaust fan at lowest speed setting. Passive air intake.

The girls seem to be doing okay in early pre flower stage I ordered me a 600 watt apallo hps /mh kit with dimmable ballast . And a 6" cooltube with small wing reflector . I plan to just replace both of the blurple lights ...

Mars Hydro is good and Kind LED's are the best but are expensive AF. You probably will be able to grow some decent buds with your current setup if you do a good job defoliating the canopy.

Lol

The kindled K5 XL1000, which is only 630 true watts, has a PPF of around 1.3 umol/j. So the nearly $2000 piece of worthless trash KindLED K5 XL1000 is on par with a run of the mill 600w HPS light that you can get for under $200.

Stop spouting bullshit, or stop spouting anything at all pls. KindLED is fucked. Or if you really believe what you just said, I hope you enjoy your kindled!

a 315 CMH is actually 315 watts of light. They really push 350 watts but that is ballast and such. What is that in blurple? 2000 watts or something?

Cant go wrong with a 315 but get a good fan and a good 4 inch filter for your 3 x 3. or 4 x 4.
