Hi guys, noobie here and hopefully I'm doing this in the right place :)

Just looking for a place to post updates and show people how I'm getting on, hopefully get a few comments and every1s input on what I've got going on.

I've just popped 2 seeds......barneys cookies kush and humboldts bubbas gift (very excited for both) but after having extreme temp issues in my little 80x80x160cm tent had to switch out my 600w hps for a much smaller 300w led! I've never used 1 before but I'm quite excited to see the results and stats in my room are much better for it.

They are 5 days from breaking ground and both looking healthy at the moment.

Let me know what you guys think and I'll be posting regular updates.

Thanks all

Pedro.

Looking good so far do you know what ur light actually pulls from the wall? Would you be able to add another for flower without heating your space up? And what's your grow medium just curious. Also what 300 led do you have as I'm interested trying to find a blurple for a smaller breeding area

Hey bro, it's a mars and I believe it pulls 185w or somewhere Close??? I'm hoping to be able to add the 2nd and just up airflow to keep temps down for flowering........im using canna coco pro+

Thanks for reading :)

i used the mars 300 last year i believe for one grow...added it only at flower, before that it was just 23 watt cfl bulbs. This plant was under it for 8 weeks, the first 4 weeks it spent with another plant next to it, then alone for the last 4 weeks. Simple light and cant complain about it..perfect for one plant, but some cfl's help for extra light and side lighting. 4.5 oz's on this plant. Now i've added a cob as well, but the mars is still going and the vegetables love it as well. As for the draw, it pulls around 130 watts (110 volt outlet).

That's all I would really need for my breeding area was thinking a 150 hps but 130 led should pull just as well and keep the budget under control

After re-reading my title I should clarify.........this is my 1st grow with a led! I'e had a few grows with hps but due to temp issues In this space I've had to try an alternative. Temps are at 27.5c and rhu is at 40% :) when I put my 600w hps in there it sits at 45c when it's all sealed up so this really seems to be the way.
Here's a pic of my last plant......opium by paradise seeds

Lovely little plant that!! Exactly what I'm hoping for with this light

Wow 45c! Is that with an exhaust fan running? Plus I believe you can set up the ballast outside the tent to help with temps..

130w of blurple seems a bit under powered, but 600w of hps might be a little much.

I would personally sell both lights and buy either 300w of hps or the same in cob leds if u could afford it. The cobs would be ideal since they put out less heat per watt than the HPS or Mars.

Temps can get that high in a tent with a 600! They are furnaces!!! The ballast may not help much as many are digital nowadays and don't produce much heat, but the light does..it can't be run in a tent without venting it..even in winter! lol Cob's are definitely the way to go for efficiency!

Or even get 200w of Cobs.

Mars is about 20-25% efficient
Vero 29 cobs from timber are 50%

So with 130w of mars you get 32w of light and 97w of heat at best

200w of the cobs I mentioned will get you 100w of light and 100w of heat...

Thanks for the input guys, definitely gonna double up at least A.s.a.p, I'm thinking a 600w led is minimum.
Don't go by the name of it..like a mars 300 or 600 won't be pulling that from the wall. If you get a great quality one..then 150 watt cob light can do amazing things!!! a 600 watt led and you'll be growing pound+ :)

What we’re trying to say here is don’t buy another blurple led light...buy anything stated above CMH, HPS or COB led.

They will all outperform the Mars or any blurple led at the same wattage.

CoBs are cheaper than blurple ;)
