1st time grow RSO journal

hi to all as i wrote on my intro thread im doing my 1st ever grow for the sole purpose of making rick simpson oil so thought a journal on here would be a good thing to keep track and maybe be guided by people who know if i begin to muck it all up lol.
the strain of cannabis i decided to go for was Master Kush as i ready its got all the qualities i was looking for and was suposidly easier than some to grow

so i started with 10 seeds in a tray filled with DP coir i put the seeds directly into the coir 10mm in and lightly covered them with coir within 3 days i see them starting to pop then started to give them 18 hours light from a 250w CFL and watering as needed with ph water between 6 and 6.5

now heres some pics running from week 1 into the start of week 3 ...... now in week 3 im running 20 hours of light and 4 off ( not sure if this is right or wrong as ive read conflicting things but they seem to be loving it . ive also added a extra 300w CFL light into the tent now so i have total of 550w spread over 9 plants and i have begun feeding them a low dose of DP A + B and DP Take root at the right dosage

a few days on with the nutrients and they look like there loving it i started on 0.8 but today ive upped it to 1.2 of dutch pro A and B and the dutch pro take root

Lookn nice. You might want to up pot them. And put them deeper in the soil. You kinda got some stetch there in the beginning. But other than that they good. Welcome to RIU.

hi thanks for your input i only put them into those pots about 7 days ago i was gona go from them pots into the final large pots ( 25l pots ) or do u think go 1 more up before final pot ? so how high up the stalk should i make the soil and should i pack the soil down as i gently pressed this down in these pots but after a watering it has really compressed

I usually bury mine if they stretch like that to within 2 inches or so from dirt to coteyldons. And when doing that you make it push out more roots from the stem where it's buried. Will also make it stronger. Bigger root, more roots= better flowers. And don't pack it tightly. Every time you water the dirt settles more and more. It will pack itself down just kinda lightly press the dirt around it. I do peat pellets, then straight to 1g smart pot. Then to 3g smartpot. And that's my final pot.

But you could use whatever size you wish. But just bc you use 30 gallons of soil don't mean your gonna grow a tree. Genetics, environment, and how you grow also plays a part in it. Good luck.

thanks for the info im learning every day which is great . also was only using the 25L pots is i was given the whole set up from a friend to grow the rso for my mother inlaw to help with her cancer so just thought id use what was there but i been looking at these smart pots but someone kinda put me off them as they said id be non stop watering them as im in coir and they will dry out really fast ?

Yes you will dry out alot quicker being soiless. I use FFOF earth fro soil and like 50% perlite. I water every other day. But I enjoy it. So I don't mind

i love tending to them but they are at the mother inlaws as she had a spare room to use . so somthing drying out fast could be a problem . at the moment im watering every 2 days aswell so i think il stay away from the smart pots then

You'll get better flavor from soil. That's why I grow in it. But it doesn't have to be alot. I mix all my stuff by hand and a 1 cup measuring cup. In one 3 gallon smart pot. I start off and mix

1 cup FFOF
1 cup Organic Earth Gro soil. There s nothing it but dirt, some peat moss, and something else. No ferts at all. And no moisture retainer or whatever. (Cheap shit from walmart) like 8.99 for a big bag of it. And it lasts a good long ways. I use it as filler. And it does help hpld some water. So does the FFOF, it lasts about the same as the earthgro also.
3 cups perlite. Also cheap shit from Wal-Mart. Miracle grow brand. But it's just regular perlite. "Only 3 cups on first mix. To help drainage on the bottom of the pot.

I mix that together dump it in the bottom of my pot. Spread it out. Flat. Set my plant that I'm up potting. In the middle ontop the first layer. Then I mix up another batch.

2 cups perlite.
Then fill in around the dirt that is on the plant. Which was one gallon smartpot. So you only gotta mix 2 or 3 times. But I fill in around the dirt make sure I get it up level with the dirt that's still on the plants roots. Then spread one more layer over the old soil that's from the 1 gallon. And I've found that I only have to give them straight ph'd water for 3 weeks. Bc ffof is hot to begin with. And they grow great. Ive only had to add nutes one time. Before the 3 weeks was up. Was bc I had a strain that ate like a hog. It was unreal. The last feeding I gave it before I flowered it was 1934ppm. She ate more NPK then any other plant I've grown. That was the only exception....

il take a look at your gro log its interesting how u hardly needed to feed using that method . but im not too bothered about the taste as all this is being turned into rick simpson oil as its for my mother inlaws brain cancer treatment . hence the reason i just need a decent yeild with good thc i need to make about 90 grams of oil and i been getting about 4 to 5 grams per ounce when buying it but using just bud and buying it is expensive hence the grow im hoping using the whole plant i should get close to that .

also you said your soil was at 1934ppm how do you test the soil ? i thought that all i had to check the ppm on was the water i was watering with ? i didnt think i could stick my ec pen into the soil ?

No that's was the ppm of the water.

The only thing else I check is every other watering roughly or when I remember too. Is the water run off to make sure it's still in the ph range

ok so im about to repot these into 11L pots this is the start of the 4th week of veg they are looking lively and the sweet smell is definatly starting slightly . ive been trying to read as much as possible but as you know you could spend a lifetime reading and still the saying goes a picture speaks a 1000 words . so i can see some very slight purple shading on my higher stems i have pictures is this something i should be worried about ? i read a guy on here lost a plant in flower stage and its stems was all purple any help on this will be great thanks guys

now repotted and into 1 last week of veg then im flipping to 12/12 . ive also just changed over to 600w dual spectrum bulbs for last week of veg . they are all in 11litre pots now and all are standing a good 12 to 16 inches tall . cant wait to flip the lights and see these babies start to bud

so today ive decided to flip my lights to
12/12 ive vegged them to between 15 and 22inches high they are in 11L pots ( will these be enough for the plants to finish in ? ) I havent topped any of these as i was dubious about cutting into these ones as its my 1st attempt . i think there going great so far i ended up going with 2 cool tubes running 600w dual spec for last week of veg it made a massive difference i think il only use the CFL bulbs for seedlings next time now i have my tent temps dialed in nicely
