1st PC grow

checked again late last night, and thought the plants were TOO close to the light---closer to 1", which seemed a bit dicey to me, so I pulled the 1" spacer out. They're now about 2-3" from the light. Thanks GT.

Looks good GT. Like the filter.
You'll get it with the light. If they stretch move them up a little. They're doing good though so don't fuss too much :)

Hi all---got a couple questions for the PC Crew! All is well, plants seem to be quite happy. I went to 12/12 just over a week ago now.

1. re/ LST---should I stop tying down the plants as they start to turn vertical? I am assuming at this point I should just let them start growing up/vertical from the bud sites? I still can't confirm male/female yet, though I haven't seen balls---I *think* I see the hairs, but untrained eye! I'll try to post some more pics in the next 24-48 for feedback and won't be tying them down any more unless directed otherwise.

2. nutes---up till now I've been using a generic 10/15/10 solution----plants seem to love it, but should I move over to a "blooming" oriented mix now? and maybe alternate back and forth to keep the foliage happy too? or just go straight "bloom"? I'm not going to mess with molasses or other tweaks---simple is my motto.

plants are looking pretty good---starting to get dense-looking around the bud sites--smell is starting to change a bit. This grow started on 9/14---18/6 w/ (2) 6500ks till 10/7, then to 12/12 under (2)2700ks and (1)6500k.

Thanks!! GT

I went to the home store and all the "bloom" nute selections were either very similar to my current ratios, or were just higher in the the P, not the K---I though the K was supposed to be the higher number in a "bloom" solution?? Need to go check my notes/read more.

Took some more pics I'll upload in a bit. I didn't buy any new "bloom" nutes until I do some more checking, otherwise they both seem good---still getting thicker on top. I'm trimming some of the bigger leaves to keep them out of the case door, but otherwise not doing anything else (lst-wise) at this point.

Thanks GT

Hey GT
Plants look good. Pics 3 & 4 are right where you need to look for signs of early flowers.
For best yields try to keep all the tops created by lst at the same height. There will be a 2 week growth spurt once you see the first flowers and if the main cola is a bit higher than the smaller ones it will get all the nutes and the other sites won't develop much.

OK understood on the taller cola getting more action----so I should do some lst/shaping to try to keep the colas at the same level? I checked again tonight (plain water night) and there seem to be 3-4 sites on 1 of the plants and 5? on the other that are thickening up.

what about the 10/15/10 general mix I'm using now vs. the "bloom" variety. 15 seems as high % wise as almost all the other "bloom" options I found. ? The plants still seem quite happy with this current stuff.

also---should I trim off any plant sections that aren't looking like bud sites? specifically any growth on the underside of the plant---those look like they're at the end of the line. I want to keep some healthy foliage per my case size but should I discourage any other growth except the colas and some bigger foliage?

also, I still need to re-address my carbon filter/fan exhaust, but I did put a "odor neutralizing" tub in there---not Ona, but similar concept. We'll see.

Thanks!! GT

For the next couple of weeks you should prolly let them grow upwards but just peg back any that are getting taller than the others. Once they get nice white tops you can leave them to do their thing.
Don't worry about the nutes. The plants will tell you better than anybody on here if there's a problem.
They are also more balanced for flowering than you think. My bud booster is 0-56-23, so somebody thinks high P values are good. I guess as the plants increase use of P-K they will just take up less N so stick with the odd straight water feed to flush out any excess & see how it goes.
You know the deal.....If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I cut nothing off until I've chopped the plant. They wouldn't grow it if it wasn't needed. Some stuff will drop off, just clear it away. Anything that gets in the way of developing budsites just gets tucked out of the way in my grow.
Glad to help m8. Got my fingers crossed for you as well :)

Thanks!!---good points on the growth and nutes!

I went to check on them tonight and they look good, but I am afraid I have 2 boys! I'm going to confirm--gotta find some good pics to reference, but from what I remember, these are looking spookily like balls. Ugh! I'll take some pics likely tomorrow to show you but I am 95% sure.

but it is a total bagseed experiment, and I've learned a TON!---thanks all, especially you v12---freakin Johnny Reeferseed to me! ;] I can see the proverbial future, you know! If these prove out as boys, I'll start another set---actually was going to start the next set of seeds in the next couple of days---but I might re-do the case first. What I have is working, but I do need more space and to address the fans/filters. I may even spring for some seeds! More research!

I'll update in the next day or 2 w/ pics and we'll see if the axe will fall!

Thanks again! GT

So I got some pics today, still hating this camera, but these might help call it. They sure kind of look like balls!, but I don't mind waiting a few more days to confirm if that's necessary!

also---not sure what is causing it, but I have a couple leaves on both plants looking a little yellowish and curled. I just moved the plants down, so they're now about 3" from the light---only the tallest parts seemed to be affected so I'm guessing it's heat related?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! C'est la vie!

Thanks, GT

Hey GT
Nice plants but I think you've called the sex correctly. Sorry m8 :(
The crispy leaves & slight brown on the edges looks like a bit of nute burn.

nute burn?---like just too much? OK thanks!!

yeah, kind of what I feared. I looked at them last night and then felt I wasn't sure again! I'm going to let them go a few more days just to triple check, and it'll be good education for me to see them up close---know what to look for! but yeah, bummed!! still have learned a ton though!

My next go-round I'm going to do in a different case and take my time getting it prep'd like I want---this setup basically worked, and I might turn it into a veg box---it could suffice I think---but I need more space and a better fan/filter setup.

Thanks for all your help!!!

GT

forgot!!---where do you get your seeds? I've seen a few sites mentioned---discretion in shipping would be paramount for me!

Thanks! GT

Dr Chronic usually gets my vote, but my last order was with pickandmix. I like the idea of being able to pick a single seed rather than buying 10 without knowing how they grow in my rig. Their Nirvana seeds are very well priced.
I'll keep an eye open for version 2 of the growbox :)
