Hey mammal, how's it going? Nice looking setup man, and plants coming along nicely. I'd say your earlier problem was deffo heat, too young for nute deficiency, but they look very happy in their new pots there and the new soil will keep them going for another few weeks at least. Only advice I'll give you is don't over-water and don't feed too soon. What sort of soil are you using btw?

bought 2x 150w cfls off ebay, i'll take some pics of the setup once theyve arrived, as you can see ive cut little mylar disks and put them under the plants so the new growth gets some light. and yes, those are bananas (i'll do anything to try and get these to go female!)

heres athena doin mighty fine

checked this morning, i think they appeciated the lights being moved about an extra inch away, the internodal space is looking alot better (i think it was too bushy for its own good before) and the new growth at the lowest nodes is looking really good too thanks to the mylar disks. and the new growth on the top is doing really nicely, coming through thick and fast. the roots must be working their way into the new soil.

i cant wait to see what their reaction to the new CFLs is when they arrive.

Yeah those are wicked lights. You need mogul sockets which you can ground yourself - I read it is like wiring a regular lamp - and the bulbs are self ballasting so you do not need one. I would try to make a homemade hood/reflector for your bulbs too. Those are sweet man - congrats - which spectrum did you get?

Oh yeah I did see on the web that there are corded mogul sockets that are selling for 5 pounds. There you go - just in case you did not get them yet.

Nice bulbs...remember the first three weeks of the seedling stage....you dont need too much light....i do like those cfls.... imgoing on ebay....me myself i have the reflector with socket for about 10 dollars...mine says to use bulbs less than 60 watts(to prevent fires).... i put my 23 watt cfl in there... as for your cfls your gonna need a special reflector for those monsters and a sufficent socket that can handle that wattage..... man i seen reflectors for those big cfls with socket and there not cheap.... i want them fucking lights...dont get me wrong they work on residential 110=120volt.... 15 or 20 amp breaker...

yea they'll be 3 weeks old this wednesday, ive purchased 2 e40 sockets for the bulbs and im going to make my own reflector, i didnt fancy spending like £50/£60 on a premade reflector. i could probably buy the amount of weed i'll get from these plants for £60 :D

Keep us updated because I have been really interested in those bulbs too.

You got the best spectrum for flowering. I wonder what the blue one looks like.....

They look heavy but you made a damn sturdy fixture for your other bulbs so I know you are going to hook those bad boys up tight.

Honestly I think those bulbs are the most economical choice and they produce as much light just without the intensity as a high pressure sodium.

thanks man, much appreciated. i'll post as soon as ive made it. i decided to go for the flowering ones rather than the veg ones purely for economical reasons. i couldnt afford both spectrums so i just got the one which is more important :D

aug 13th, 3 weeks in. (day 21)

what do you do if youve overspent on bulbs and are broke and need a reflector?

theres only one thing for it.....

GHETTOFLECTOR.

which looks massive but when ive fit the bulb (when the bulb holder arrives tomorrow)....

my only regrets? having to use BLACK tape to attach the mylar, and not being able to get the mylar any flatter. it'll have to do! this is the first of 2 ghettoflectors!

but back to the plants...

athena:

i FIMMED athena today:

and heres demeter, who i shall wait till her current leaves have got a big bigger before i try and fim her, proabably at the weekend:

as always, all comments are welcome!

Hey mammal, love those bulbs and very impressed with your hand-made reflector, looks like it'll do the job very well indeed ;) The girls are looking gorgeous, nice and squat and bushy. Very nice job you did on the fimming too mate, it'll make a big difference. Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing those bulbs do the business ;)

thanks for the comments guys, wouldnt normally post new pics so fast but im bored so i'd take some pics from some different angles n stuff.

i also finished my 2nd ghettoflector, i'll wait till ive installed them before i take more pics tho.

first off, a pic of both the girls together, with a penny for size comparison.

athena on the left, demeter on the right.

dont worry about the discolouration on the leaves in these next 2 pics, its just the relfection from the mylar out of shot from the CFL's, the leaves arnt that colour!

Athena:

and here is the new nodal growth on athena:

and heres Demeter:

and heres demeters node growth, as you can see although shes a smaller plant her nodal growth seems bigger and better, so its all good :D

as always
