Ive thought about the 24/12 cycle and it would be really cool to find out it works better.
I've definately heard about it, reading in many threads but usually they just end up in a debate of people saying it won't work or people saying why not? I didn't know that timers existed that could do that, could anyone provide a link?
I can't do much experimenting right now but in a few more months I'll be running multiple grows and I'd like to do some side by sides(I have many side by sides planned... too many in fact).
I was thinking about the 24/12 idea and wondered if you couldnt do a cycle like this.. note that the last "day" in the cycle is what I call a "leap day" as it is only half as long and it will account for the 7 day timers being used. This may totally fuck up the plants rythym or it might not but that would have to be tested. here is the cycle

24on 12off 24on 12off 24on 12off 24on 12off *12on* 12off

that brings you back to day one with 24 on but the 12 hour day for day 7 could cause problems.

150$ for a timer is alot of money

also there is sure to be a way to make 7 days work out so that you can have 12 hour night with extended days but everyday day will be different and be hard to keep track of the on times. I'd lose track and Id hate to have to wake up at 3am to go water my plants or change a res, so I'll never try that

lol, FAIL and a half. 18/6 and any other lighting pattern besides "photo periodic light" or also called " gas lantern"...dumbasses run high electric bills on 24 hours or 18, when i run my lights in a pattern and cut my bill down by 60%..yes..60%. and i yield more..20% more to be exact. to do this.. 12 hours ON, 6.5 hours OFF, then 1 hour ON, 6.5 off. this stunts the plants chemicals from flowering with the 1 hour light on inbetween, cuts energy, doesnt stress plants, and makes and saves you a TON, if you dont do this, you are a moron who likes to shell out needless money.
