150W CMH sativa garden

Wzup RIU!

So this is about the time I stop counting my 1st, 2nd nth grow and make it into one continuous garden journal.
I started growing last August and I am still new to this so will be making same mistakes everyone does.

I am into learning all that is possible there. Trying to breed, clone, etc. It's just that I have very vertically limited grow room and I do not consume that much, so I will be more quality oriented rather than quantity. Flowering time or how much the plant will yield will be not my top priorities. Still will try to make my grows interesting.

I have 3'x3'x2' grow space. 150W CMH plus couple of 25W cfls to do some side lighting if needed. Growing in soil. 2x4.5gal with microcote coating pots.

This grow started today when finally after a bit over 100hours C99 from FS broke through the soil.
Had some temps issues, did not think that 68-70F can so much affect the process of sprouting.

this is how it looked when I helped to get rid of quickly drying shell


and this is how it looked after less than 4 hours:


Plan:
in two weeks topping for 4 colas, then rooting the top, vegging a bit, applying STS solution from this guide
Then switching to veg. Applying rooted clone pollen to main plant lower branches, making both fem seeds and some buds.

Also in about 4 weeks Kali Mist from serious seeds will be joining C99 as well. Yes yes Kali Mist is tall and lanky stretchy etc. But 12/12 from seed and topping lsting should do the trick.

Subbed you been doing fire for a small set up. I could only imagine what you could do with 400 watts.

what kind of bulb are you rockin? I like the Philips allstart line myself...

Yeah... first I bought 150W hps with magnetic ballast which supports both hps and mh. But later Kite High suggested to use CMH (it works fine with the ballast i own) and I do not want to go back

OH, and I'm going to try the boveda packs you recommended this time around, hope I got that name right. I want to confirm with you if I'm getting how to use them. I want the 62% (optimal), just drop it in the jar and close it, no burping involved or necessary? Do I want to put it down, I guess in the middle of the bud or just drop it in on top?

damn man i really don't get it, 150w cmh which describes the wattage and light type(ceramic metal halide) which also pretty much describes the size of a room, or like internet translates - Cross My Heart, lol why ppl would say that, then sativa garden? whats wrong with that if ill be growing only sativa strains? maybe this is some US stuff i'm not picking up?

alright ppl, we got to the end of the week.
Day 7, 18/6 schedule with 2x25W 6500K cfl. Plant is 1.5" tall and 4" wide at first node. Glad to see she started to kick in.

looking good... I'm a day behind you! lol... long way to go.

I just jumped on RIU to post some update and saw pics from day 12.. this is day 16. four and a half days passed since I took pics above.
Compare previous post pics at day 12th with this day 16th:







I made some light rearrangements. 1x25w 6500K, 1x35w 6500K, 1x25w 2700K. So 80W of cfl atm. Soon CMH will be kicking off.
I see that root system is already quite well developed. Watering went down from 5 to 3 days. So in 2-3days I'll be leaching her With ~2 gallons of water followed by 0.5gal fed with some grow food, silica and cal-mag supplement.
Also I see that I might be topping her within 1-3 days. She looks ready, just want to make sure that the top I'll cut can be rooted successfully.
Things got on a roller-coaster huh..

That's nice, really nice. If only I didn't overwater at the start.

So, I'm thinking of popping a C99 for a 12/12 run. I know it ultimately depends on the trichs but, what day did you and kh recommend the chop? I want to say...52..?

well this strain does not depend on trichs. i mean somewhat, but for her peak potency you harvest her at 49-52 day into flower. although it should be different with 12/12 from seed.. plant needs it's time to mature.. i asked kh when to harvest when 12/12 from seed, he just said that he never done this..
then you would be relying on trichs, calyxes, stigmas. but man i harvested one at day 57 and one at 52. there was a great difference. although i need to grow more than 2 plants to get to know her better on my own...

No trippy effect at day 57?

it was trippy, but more giggly. it went milder on head, even my friends gfs smoked it and were worshipping me, lots of laugh, clear head, uplifting euphoric, very social and creatively entertaining but if you want cartoons on walls trippy, you do not let it grow over day 52 i don't know how it is for others, but when i made cookies from day52 c99 it was way more intensive comparing to when i smoke it, just that it takes 2hours to get to a peak of the effect ))
