15 days old seedling...

Hi,
this is my first plant and I just wanna make sure everything is going ok.

I'm growing indoor, I don't water very often(maybe 3 times in the last 2 weeks)because the soil I started with doesn't drain well. I bought the wrong stuff(MG Potting Mix) I just realized this a couple days ago... I will transplant in new soil, but when is it safe to do so? Also I've noticed the very tip of my leafs turn brown a little... I changed my light yesterday from a fluorescent tube 14w to 2 CFL 26w. Could that of shocked the plant? It is 15 days old and compare to other pics I've seen it looks small and the leafs are curling all over the place... Can you let me know what you guys think?

Here are some pics of Moby Dick at 16 days old... For your first grow, and for all intensive purposes your baby looks ok... Given time and the right care it will grow strong, then you can transplant into a larger container with a better Soil...


*if you wanted to you could buy a 3-5 gallon pot depending on your needs.. Some good soil like FoxFarm OceanForest and transplant right now and then not have to transplant again.....

Other question about my soil. The MG I bought turns out is enriched... 0.14-0.14-0.14 is that a lot or not? I'm not gonna fertilize until I transplant just to be sure, but I'm worried it might already be too much...

What do you think?

Dont fertilize,. just use plain water.....
*and remember the bigger the pot, the longer the veg, the bigger the yield....

Hey jkahndb0! Thanks for your help, I appreciate it! So little update, I transplanted in Soil-mix, now I'm not sure if it's getting worst or not... could she now have a N deficiency? It started in MG so maybe it's used to having lots? Also the leafs are a bit deformed... is that normal?

get it transplanted now mate.

I used MG 0.14-0.14-0.14 at the beginning(didn't know better) transplanted 2 days ago and it's just looking worst and worst... I transplanted in pro-mix

weak and droopy...did you add more perlite to your promix? it looks overwatered and in shock from the transplant...also what is your humidity at? If its low(below 60%), stick some cups of water in there with a papertowel hanging out of it to get the humidity up...if you have a small humidifier that would work even better.

Your cotyledons are still green so the plant will still be feeding off those, you don't need nutrients yet...get a plastic dome if you can to get the humidity up, and that soil should dry out after a day or two if you added enough perlite...you don't want the soil to stay wet for long periods or the roots will just rot..

so no I did not add perlite to my promix, it says there is already some in it... not enough? I got the "Potting & Seeding Mix Pro-Mix"...

ahh... promix is a soilless medium - very good for growing, but you gotta know how to use it. Try giving it a decent watering the next time it dries - like a flush. That should help spread the nutes around and get you some balance between the two different media. Better yet, do your flush with a very very low dosage (1/8th maybe) of nutrients, just to get the electricity going there.

Yah the Potting and Seeding ProMix as apposed to the ProMix BX... Is formulated to retain moisture for longer periods of time, both have nutes in them but not much they should be used up after the first couple waterings...
Why did you tranplant into such lil pots? youve added an extra stressor now cuz your going to have to transplant again in no time...
ProMix wouldnt be my first reccomendation for a first time grower but youve already bought the bag, if you wanted to for your next transplant buy a bag of something that needs less attention.. FoxFarm Ocean Forest, or Roots Organic..You can save the ProMix for a rainy day, Or mix it with the previoulsy mentioned soils.. I recommend the FoxFarm Myself once you transplant into the new soil all youll need is plain water for a long time..(besides Flowering Hormones and trace elements.. like Open Sesame, CalMag, or Bud Ignitor, etc...)

So I transplanted in small pot cause a friend of mine told me it was better for the seedling stage... I used one that you just put in a bigger pot and the roots grow threw. I'm hoping that way it will be less of a stress when transplanting again. I will had more perlite when I transplant. I ordered Jacks classic and bloom last week, should be here soon. That's why I got soiless mix. Might not be the easy way but it seems like the fun way(even if I don't get it right the first time, I'm learning)!

Today I put it under a plastic dome, 3 hours later I can already see that the plant is more alive. There is now drops of water in the bag so it looks like it's taking the humidity out of the soil!

I'll post some pics tomorrow to show you how it's going! I was thinking of switching from 18/6 to 24/0 for a couple of days, is that a good idea?

Yah the stress from using peat pots is minimal-null... (lookin at pics when usin my phone=useless)
Switching from 18/6 to 24/0 wont really give you any advantages.... You said you want it to be a learning experience so do it, i mean it wont harm your plants...
So do 24/0 for a week, then 18/6 for 2 weeks, then 16/8 for a week, then switch to 12/12..(you can switch the timetable up that was just an example if u wanna veg longer or shorter)

i agree about the medium. jack's classic is said to be the best there is. if it's truly soil less, put some nutes in it. Just for chemical balance.

no need for 24/0. 20/4 is said to be the most effective way to veg.

Little update on my plant, after being under a plastique dome and lights 24/0 for 2 days, it's looking better, it hasn't grown much but it's looking up! Also planted it in a big pot with 50% Pro-mix Organic Mix, 50% Perlite. Let me know what you think!

Ok so my plant is still growing slowly... The leafs are all looking burned at the tip... I finally got my Jacks Classic combo yesterday so I watered with a bit less then 1/4 strength. I'm hoping it's gonna help... how long does it take to start "working"? Let me know what you guys think... also the stem is turning purple... poor little plant is having a hard start of life! Hope it will grow stronger!

I forgot to say, yesterday when I watered with Jacks classic, I watered until a bit of water was seen in the bottom plate... I just read somewhere you should spray water on the top and put water in the plate until your plant is 12" high... is that accurate? I'm doing this wrong again aren't I!
