Found in thrift recycle store 100w mh bulbs mogul base, cheap. Can 2 of them be fired up by only one ballast circuit? Spec sheet says 8000 lumens per bulb. Worth scavenging?

I wouldn't try hooking up 2 bulbs to 1 ballast, I mean I'm no electrician, but it just sounds like it'd cause issues. I'd stick to 1 ballast per light. However, If you don't have anything bette than that, I would def. at least get 1 to use for vegg. Otherwise, your better off buying one from an actual Hydro store, or online, they usually come with the best reflector hoods, and usually come air cooled. However, If you'r just lookin for a cheap closet grow, that MH will do fine (depending on your dimensions) Otherwise, you might be better off with getting some high powered CFL's if your tryin to keep it cheap. I found a growing CFL with 2900 Lumens (only uses 65 watts, so very cheap to run for electricity) and I got the bulb and the whole attachment (plug, little reflector shade, everything it needs to run) for about 20 bucks from home depot. If you wanted, buy like 5-6 of those and you'll have something way better, cheaper and way more efficient that a 100 watt MH. Not to mention that MH is gonna be (not to much) but a pretty penny to run. Hope this helps, good luck to ya!

Thanks 4 reply. Bulbs were $5 each. I'm a scrounger. Currently run 2 plants 10x26w CFL. Mixed 3500/6500k. Works so far. Same store had 500 and 1000 watt for $20 (habitat4humanity)

I thought so. Also concerned with heat.

Ah I c, thats a pretty good CFL grow there, but ya it's up to you with the funds your willing to spend on the electricity and the heat your willing/able to endure. That MH Will def. emit a bunch of heat, where as the CFL's does't emit much heat at all. Plus if needed just always use a fan for exhaust.
