Everyone has come back real nice after the light switch... end of solstice marks my last day of veg. I figured I should snap a quick picture as the lights went out. still have some minor deficiencies N and Mag... that shouldn't be an issue, when they wake up they get a heavy dose of "bud blood" and that'll fix it right up!

careful man, sometimes those deficiencies can actually be burn or lockout of some kind. but your starter mix does look solid, at first a little hot but they're really acquiring the taste now. looking good!

Just to throw out my unwanted advice :) I'd try and center the 600 filament more over the center of the plants than the tube itself. You can also build a type of standoff to put the bulb further into the tube. Last and not least would be to get a new/used hood. I found the spread is much better with a regular hood. Looks all good though!

What do you mean a standoff? Like a chunk of 2x4 between the socket and the bracket holding the socket?
I'd like to center the filament but with 6 inch ducting on either side and a 14" inch tube, my closet is only 24" wide... so you can see my conundrum, the ducting is already squeezed in a bit too tight, and I have a "left or right" choice when it comes to bulb placement. That's why I wanted to add in a 2nd bulb, but another 600 is too long and too hot, and I just upgraded from a 400... Also with a regular hood, because I'm in an enclosed closet I wouldn't be able to retain my certain "stealth" that's currently present. I actually ordered the 600 with the regular gull wing hood and popped it in there, in an hour and a half temps got to 98 at canopy level. I know last time when it was full of foliage the temp dropped about 5 degrees versus being empty, but that's not enough; so the wing got modified and went to the mini fridge!
Thanks for the words of wisdom! Stick around, I've seen what you do, and would love to have your two cents!

yeah I thought it was burn but a little fish fert (Alaska brand I think) at 1/4 strength perked 'em right back to green. That's one of my big concerns trying to scrog 6 plants though, what if I got problems with one and it needs to be flushed? I guess I cross that bridge when I get there, I already have some ideas though. The mix was a bit hot, and I suppose that's my fault, I left them completely unattended for about 2 weeks right after transplanting from party cups to 5 gallon buckets. The vacation was worth it though!

I've seen it with wood and it worked. But I'd not recommend it. Preferably something more flame resistant! Like some tube steel with longer screws to space it out or get crafty.

Three 400w HID bulbs in a chest freezer? That's crazy talk. How much height could you get, I like the idea of freezer pulling temps down periodically but shit that's crazy.

I've seen a lot of freeers turned upright and repurposed into grow rooms. The freezer door is heat and air sealed and the unit is insulated with foam board. makes a pretty bad=ass grow tent and you can find free junk freezers for removal all over the place. try criagslist, they usually have stuff like that

He runs the entire bottom in dwc, partitioned with drain spouts for each of 3 sections. The lights/cool tubes are set into the lid about an inch and the ballasts are on the back side. He screens it in 1x1 netting a little above 12 inches... He told me that the freezer mostly keeps the resivoir cool not the room or lights
You pick, I just want something new. In your opinion what would you have if you could only keep one.
I'll have some Tom for you... Only one other person in alaska has this f1, I'll pm u when its rooted, or if u want I have some seeds I could spare of the same f1

So, even though I am clearly in soil, I have to decided to use some "Bud Blood".... its recommended on the package to only use in hydro systems but on a word of a close friend I cut the dose a little and have been draining to waste, they love it... I'm day 5 of flower and my screen is filling up quick.

Day 10 of flowering... Screen is filling up real quick, Next time more veg time less plants! They're looking pretty good, but that hps does 'em no justice, even with the flash to the camera on... Maybe I'll try to snap a pic when the lights go off... Tight, dark green colas littered with pistils are forming real nice all across my screen. So far this has been a definite learning experience!

Looking good. Just keep tucking those tops, maybe defoliate the lower leaves. Since they can't receive as much light, they are leeching the plant for nutrients. They are strating to get a bit tall, too, but looking good, none the less
