Default Pms weeks late in coming??

Just curious for about last month I get random notification of new proivate messages. Like today I got an email notification of new private messages from 3 weeks ago I had answered already and deleted. i never get currect notifications. Is the system a month or so behind trying to catch up with pm notifications??
