Hey subcool i was wondering if you knew much about this method? I know you have been growing for a long time and so i was wondering if you have ever grown like this? I cant really find any good info on it besides you cut 1/3 of the bottom nodes off. Any help i would really appreciate, cant wait for the book.

That method is commonly used in SCROG because the canopy is so full, there's no chance of light penetration to the lower parts of the plant, therefore their growth is stunted and it just uses nutrients/energy that would otherwise be going toward the tops of the plants, therefore the lower 1/3 of the plants growth is removed so all that energy goes to the top and produces larger, healthy buds at screen level. It also aids in good ventilation through the plant and allows better air circulation. The 'lollipop method' as you called it, has many uses, but is most common in SCROG grows for sure.

So am I, just a variable version of it.

The lower branches of a plant are usually small fluffy buds (called popcorn nuggets). A lot of people don't like these so they remove all lower growth so that the plant puts all its nutrients and energy into the top of the plant (as I mentioned in the last post).

Like I said, it has a lot of uses.
