mylar is very much a pain in the ass. white paint is a good choice, in my bud room one wall is painted flat white (its concrete block) and the other three are black and white plastic (sounds just like the panda film described in the above post but mine is not brand name or whatever). both work well for me, are easy to clean, and have been in a working budroom for over a year and i have not needed to repaint or repair any plastic film. i had tried mylar at first and it started to tear after just one cycle.... good luck dude, hope that helps!

I have mylar in my room. I tore several 3" pieces of duct tape and placed these on the mylar where I was going to staple it to the wall studs. Held it up and ran the staple gun 2-3 times in each taped spot. It's still holding on strong with fans running 24/7 after about 9 months or so. Gotta to tell you though. It's a bitch doing it yourself. When this comes down will be painting the walls white.
Doing my best with my room waaaaayyyyy out there in the not so insulated, non powered shop, being fed with a big fat extension cord.

Either one will work fine....Mylar is tricky to hang correctlly. If the wall is sheetrock just paint it flat white. Peace
