Vortex is a pretty easy grow. I would just go with w/e you like (sativa vs. indica). MJ isn't super hard to grow regardless of the strain. Pure sativa can be a bit crazy...
Finally got my OMMP grower card/certificate and will now be able to cultivate legally. I will be growing indoors in a 4x4 tent with either a 400 or 600 watt for flowering (still undecided). I have been on RIU for a little bit now, and after reading many threads I think I would like to try some TGA genetics with supersoil for my growing meduim, for my first attempt at growing. Seems like going with a supersoil medium with water and simple compost teas would be the best route for a newb. That being said, I was wondering if any of you TGA weed nerds have any suggestions for strains that would be appropriate for a first timer? I have alot of experience growing vegetables outside, but this will be my first run with cannabis. Any help/ideas/suggestions are extremely welcome. Thanks RIU members!

Medically Compliant
Under the laws of God (See Gen 1:29)
Like mentioned above, take your pick, you really can't ggo wrong. Your first couple runs will be a learning process anyway, so don't worry TOO much about what you choose.
GET THE 600 WATT HPS!!!!!! Can't stress that enough. It's a perfect fit for a 4x4 tent. I started out with A CFL grow in stacked Rubbermaid tubs, then bought a 400 for a roughly 3x3 space, then a 600 for a 4x4. Save yourself some time & money and just get the 600. You know you want to!!!
why don't you tell us what you are looking for for meds, and we can go from there....

Yes I don't think i'll be attempting any pure sativas right off the bat, although some of the sativa strains that the Rev spotlighted in this last issue of skunk were mighty appealing! Vortex is one i've definitely been having my eye on though. Thanks for the input!
Thanks for the info Spicy! Yea, I think i'll go ahead and go for the 600 watt. From what i've been able to gather the Secret Jardin DR120 would be perfect for a 600.
Hi Nugs! Thanks for checking in on my little thread here. I was thinking that I would try to go for two strains at first. One for the daytime, so more of a sativa leaning cerebral/creative kind of effect. And then one for winding down/relaxing on the couch/night time smoke. For that I was leaning towards more of the indica leaning strains like Ace, Ripped Bubba, or possibly Querkle. So basically i'm just looking for a good daytime strain, and then the counter to that-a good demotivating/more body effect strain.
I was also planning on mainlining at least one female (when found) for my first attempt, so thanks for putting that sticky together for us, that's awesome!![]()
Good daytime strain is vortex bro. Or apollo bx.

Thanks for the info Hovering, love your reports, you are definitely an inspiration for newbs like me. I really like the cheesequake, and may go with that as one of my first attempts, got to sample some from one of the portland clubs, as it was promoted to me as a pain reliever as well. Also what do you find the plushberry is best for, or is that strain more of a smoke for the flavor type of strain?
Thanks,

I would run the CheeseQuake if I were you. Good chance of getting an elevated CBD strain which is what I found (1.5%).
I love the Plushberry but would not recommend it for newer growers since it can get wild and benefits from strong training and pruning through its growth. Vortex and TimeWreck can be a bit of the same with needing extra "control". CheeseQuake would be the easier to start with imo.
