Why are thin stems on the Vortex bad for scrogging? It rained a bit here today and my weaker stemmed Vortex got a little beat up from it. I was really thinking about installing a screen on my next day off, but now my thoughts have changed a bit lol. Or maybe I'll just do it as a test? What do you think? Also, what is an easy, organic way to boost calcium. Egg shells? Will ground, uncomposted (fresh) egg shells work?

What about if you made another screen level 6"-1' above the first one to support the branches as they stretched up in the beginning of flower? Just an idea, it would add quite a bit to the top-heaviness of it though. Thanks for the info and ideas as always man, I love this thread!

ground oyster shells I find work best, fresh egg shells may work in an outdoor application, but may attract bugs indoor.

    Nugs may do it different.

hey bro, i have a buddy that swears by egg shells, but i don't buy it......there are still shells in my garden from three years ago, after composting for three years!....perhaps if you ground them to a very fine powder.........my dolomite has a shit ton of cal in it, and i go heavy in my super soil....in my mind cal should always be considered a macro nutrient.......cell wall rigidity is crucial, .....that being said, i just hit my vortex with some left over liquid cal/mag from......shit now i can't remember...lol....that just goes to show you how little i use the bottles, now that i switched to super soil.......as far vortex, and scrog...it is a perfect strain for it.....the problem outside, is she does not like high winds, and storms, she is just delicate....you want to see vortex shine in a scrog, check out oriahs current grow, he is going to kill it big time with his set up.....nugs

right, i just think the finer, the better......if you take a little scoop, and mix it in a drinking glass full of water, and it gets really cloudy.....that is a great sign, as far as assimilability is concerned.

Thanks for the cal suggestions, I'm retarded I forgot dolomite lime /facepalm. I'll sprinkle a bit on the top soil, even though I tripled the amount that was in the super soil recipe and put some in the bottom of the hole a few weeks before putting soil in.

I think I'm still going to try the Vortex scrog outside, my gals are right next to a thick ass japanese maple and my house so it's kinda shielded from wind.
