hey there subcool, I was there shooting the shit with you about genetics, I was the kid w/ the SF hat and my friend had a humboldt sweater. yeah the cup was a bunch of bullshit, it was my first year to adam and I will probably never go back as i'd rather stay in nor cal and save myself the insane exchange rates and the rude ass fucking prick people. the cup is all a popularity contest just as I suspected the whole time its also one of the worst examples of any type of event period. Wonders of cannabis was if anything bigger and better yet I didnt have to travel across the globe for it.
the sad part is that these fucking people are practically printing money with the cup and the money it generates for all the "sponsors/seedbanks"

I dont even understand how the promoters have the nerve to try and keep a straight face trying to sell those mickey mouse booths to vendors.

I think herb no matter the genetics still suffers greatly when it becomes "commercialized" meaning when you begin to cultivate larger amounts its obviously harder to produce connoisseur (sp) quality herb and this is what has happened to adam just as it is happening in cali, most all of the shit they sold there was not cured properly at all as its just rushed to the shelves. BTW I stopped smoking the hash 4 days after I got there as it was tooo harsh probably because the shit gets cut with motor oil and rubber etc.

If anyone does go there, the bulldog hotel has some of the worst smelliest rooms and service people I have ever dealt with..........and this is that I was staying in the "Royal suites apts"

Sorry for the rant people but I really hope this message can save someone their hard earned money before they go expecting a cirque du soleil. This was the only place Ive ever been to and had people flat out kick you out of their coffeeshop after you already tried to go in there walking on eggshells being as polite as can be (no soup for you!) my trip was fun however and even though Arjan "the king of Cannabis" isnt the king of cannabis as his strains were mediocre to say the least he was one of the nicer people I did meet over there besides you subcool, HTH

The bud shots on the first page look like good mids at best....

What a shame...I had actually planned on going, glad I didn't. I can buy bud that looks like that bud on the first page for 35-50 bucks a quarter and im talking about both of those posts on the first page not just Aryans dirty looking weed.

If you look it the Cup issue of HT you will see the JTR picture is not of the same buds?

commercialism eventually sneaks in and starts to ruin everything. Too much bullshit and cock sucking (forgive the french) is needed to win a competition like that.

People start to look for trade names and don't mind that these are merely weak copies of the originals, just like clothes or pop music.

cheese is a perfect example of a strain ruined by fraudulent copies. The copies smell and taste the same making them almost indistinguishable from the clone-only mom. Yet the high is no comparison.

It seems some people are just happy to settle for low-rate genetics with a good or well-known name attached to them, and there are unscrupulous breeders out there all too willing to take advantage.
