For dolimite just go to any feed and seed store better yet use the phone save some gas but its simply lime that breaks down faster than plain lime. As far as Azomite u can use Fritted trace elements instead from a fish store but here is there website.

Subcool,.. thanks for being such an excellent teacher. I for one have learned a lot. I had a couple of questions if you don't mind.
Do you think the lime may not actually take a lot of time to break down, but is actually combating the pH depression that the breakdown of the organics would cause, and when the pH comes up, it's because the mychorrizae have slowed down and the bulk of the decomposing has finished?
How many generations do you think on average does it take to produce a stable strain?

love the info in here, Subcool. I mix my own organic soil too and find that very little extra ferts are needed even in 3 or 5 gallon pots. ive been an organic general gardener for years and thats what i know best. i also like to be able to get all my soil additives from a regular store - the only 'specialist' additoive i use is bat guano
quick question - what is the ph of the water you use?
i tend to adjust mine with citric acid to about 6 (the theory being that the ph then sweeps between 6 and 7 as the dolomite lime buffers it and different nutrients are available to the plant at different ph's)
do you think this is unneccesary? the ph of my untreated water is 7.2 or so.

I think as long as your so close to neutral its not a factor. My water comes in at almost 8 so I adjust down to about 6.2 or pee color on a 1 drop test kit 
The fluctuation of ph can effect the absorption but I really think it applies more to hydro gardening than soil container growing such as we use with concentrated nutrients

Thanks for all the great info you have supplied to all the forums you support. I got all the ingredients for the supersoil; however, I will be using Gardner and Bloom compost as a base soil. I also wanted to add the humic acid but I can only get granulated. Is there a conversion for the amount added from powered to granulated? 2 TBLs doesnt seem like much for all that soil. Was wondering if I can add some Kelp meal (how much?) without over doing the formula or do you think it's unnecessary?
I plan on an outdoor grow and was going to rototill the super soil into my clayey soil about 1.5 feet. I was going to try raised beds (1.5-2 feet) for the grow area.

I'm about to mix up a batch of your SS subcool. I came across Rich Earth while looking locally for your ingredients. Have you ever tried it or heard of it? I figure a 2/3s of a cup of this stuff could replace the azomite, humic acid and half the epson salts in your recipe. It's got 70 different trace elements as well. I think I'll try it and plant one with half of that, and another with 50% more, unless you respond that it sux. They say the pH doesn't affect the soil but it's acidic.

Yeah,.. I can understand. You probably get tons of questions about various products. It seems mostly harmless,.. they recommend it for vegetables, and the fact that it's prehistoric dirt gives it some coolness appeal,.. for me anyway. I'll post if it does something out of the ordinary.

Hey Subcool. A priveledge to read from your grows. I got a question. It is rudimentary and probably covered but what would you say is the NPK of your soil?
You have inspired me to go 7 gallon water only grows for my meds. I have been religiously studying npk and have a base so I will understand I hope what you have to say:]
I see you have bone and indo guano and the one nitrogen boost of blood. These NPK ratios would be nice to have. Also do you double up on the P because by the time the plant hits flower the one P portion is used?
I am mostly curious. Also I have found it hard to find the needs of mary janes NPK. The best is a high times article from 03.

No clue on its composition Dont trust info in HT there clueless for the most part and never checks the facts in there articles.
My soil was developed over 20 years to produce the best tasting weed and still maintain large yields I would say its high in P and N though

hey im a first time grower well i haven't started yet. i plan on building a mother/veg tent in my laundry room and i have a
2w x 5l x 8h closet i will use for flowering about 4-6 plants. i want to use organic soil and nutes. i will clone and veg with flo's and cfls. ok now to my questions. I need to know what organic nutes are good and how you would recommend to use them. also would i have better yields in that space with a 400w hps or a 600w? i want a balance between yield and the cost of the electric bill. umm good cloning solution, leeching, really a basic run down on everything i will need. i want to know as much as possible before i start. im not somone who likes to waste what little cash i have so i try to get it right the first time. thanks for any help!

Besides internet forums, who do you think has the best, most current information on growing; books, vids, etc? Not just soil grows either, but organic hydro as well, if you happen to know?
