I got to say something that I hope helps you all, cuz it blew my mind. Peace of mind is the best of all brands so far for me. They actually include bacteria and myco in their boxes. All for only 10 dollars or so shipped! I am using their steamed bone meal and something else. This is a question. Sub, have you ever used Peace of mind Bulb Food in the place of extra P bat guano. It has an NPK od 3-8-8 and I saw it and yelped at the righteousness of the mix. Also included a nice blend of bacteria and myco with the organics form various sources so I get some good even tasting buds. I hear the diferent P sources the different tastes. Any experience? ty in advance. It is working so far but this is just a few days.

Sub, thanks for a real inspirational set of instructions!

I have some questions. I want to grow something like Royal Haze, with long flowering time and large stretch, in a Scrog setup.

Given the additional length of time needed, are 7-gal pots sufficient, or do I need to go to 10-gal? (Is that the same as a #10 container?)

I've read what I could find of your 'Soil 101', and don't recall the ratio of regular potting soil/supersoil to be used with clones (or after seedlings have outgrown their starter medium)?

These types of 'hazes' are said to require additional nutrients in the finishing periods. Would topping with supersoil be a good bet?

And as an aside, any thoughts on plant density/sq. ft. for a Scrog, using your soil in a 7- or 10- gal. containers.

Thanks very much for your efforts helping the rest of us along...

well, i just mixed up my first batch of super soil and i can't wait for it to be ready! i used two different kinds of bloom bat guano... and i couldn't find any azomite so i got trace mineral additive derived from volcanic ash. i mixed up 1/3 of a batch and watered with 2 gallons RO water. right now the cans are sitting in my basement which averages temps of 70-85. should i have the lids on or keep them open?

Default NPK Values
Hi, Great thread. I'm not sure if Subcool is still lurking but I have some questions. Please help me switch from hydro to organic.

I went to my local nursery to find some of ingredients for SS. They had several brands of blood meal and bone meal. All of the different brands had different NPK values for their product. For insance, one brand of bone meal was 1% N and the other was 2.5% N. How do i know which is best for this recipe?

Is it possible to let us know the optimum NPK value for each ingredient or what brands you recommend? I'd like to get the same end result as you.

Also is Kelloggs an OK alternative base organic potting soil?

Thanks, YGB

Great question. I was thinking similar recently. I know that worm castings can be extremely variable on NPK because it depends quite a bit on how they are fed. I didn't know there as as much variability in bone and blood meal too.

Also, I have been reading about that azomite and it sounds like good stuff too. It seems pretty cheap ordering from Amazon.com. I wonder how it compares to green sand which I hear is also good. I was thinking about mixing the two in case there's some overlap.

All I want to do is duplicate, as close I possibly can, Subcool's SuperSoil. I don't think he uses any greensand. It's nice to know I can get azomite at Amazon.

Yes just top dress heavily at day 30 with SS I have strains that run out of gas in a 7 but its rare so you should be fine. Also understand not all plants like SS ECSD freaked out and went herm in my hot soil and I ragged the clone, Later I found out it can be grown with less herms in cooler soil so know that.

I've read what I could find of your 'Soil 101', and don't recall the ratio of regular potting soil/supersoil to be used with clones (or after seedlings have outgrown their starter medium)?

I dont use SS on seedlings or clones it will fry em I use plain Roots or Biobiz Light

I have never broken it down to the level you guys are asking maybe thats why Ed says my Soil reciep is un complete. Whys he keep using my bud shots for covers though????

I use high quality products and I have used a few diff ratios with great results,
the piece of mind stuff works great!

I will try and pay more attention to the numbers next time I am at the shop.
