Exclamation Basic organic soil and nutes question
I want to grow organic.

If i use something like fox farm ocean type soil is it 100% organic?

Do I ever need to add fertilizer to the mix?

If so what are the best kinds?

Can I use the same soil throught the entire grow?

Finally, are their any guides availible to walk a rookie through an organic grow?

Thanks

Well I've got FF Ocean Forest. It's all organic, good stuff. Don't necessarily HAVE to have nutes, but it's a good idea at least during flowering so that you get the best buds possible. I've also got some Age Old Organics nutes that I've been using, and they work pretty well, just drop the strength to like 25% of the recommended.

I am fairly new to this but I will walk you through what I do.

I use OF (Fox Farm Ocean Forest) but I cut it with either Fox Farms Light warrior or with Sunshine mix#4, whichever I can readily obtain. You don't want to start your seeds / clones in straight OF cause it is mixed pretty hot and will more than likely burn them pretty badly if not kill them. you should start your babies in either the Light warrior or the Sunshine mix#4. Once they outgrow your 16 ounce solo cup or your little 4 inch pot that you have started them in you should upgrade your pot before they get root bound. What I do is mix the OF and the LW / Sunshine mix like so, about 50% - 60% OF and 50% - 40% LW a little extra perlite would help with your drainage, but too much is not good. With this mix your plants will be good for a couple weeks with water only. After a couple weeks I use a half strength all organic fert for 1 week then up it to full strength. Hope this helps, but if your like me you have a million other questions.

Before I started my first grow I read everything I could find for about 5 weeks to make sure that I knew what I was doing before I fucked some shit up.

As far as organic nutes I was using Fox Farms nutes then after reading some of Ohsogreen's posts I swapped to BMO (Blue Mountain Organics) which can be obtained via Ebay at a reasonable price.

Again, I hope this helps you but I am sure you have many other questions, I encourage you to go to the organics thread and spend several hours there browsing. All the questions that you can think up have already been asked at least a dozen times and you can easily find your answers on these forums.

Peace out!

Sounds pretty good you should add nutes after about 2 to 3 weeks but start off with 1/4 the recommended dose and switch to 1/2 strength solution then full strength in the bloom cycle and you should be rocking and rolling aght, aght

if you have a local hydro store around you you can easily find a few products that will lower your PH. or you can search ebay and other places.

Deadset,These pre mix soils? should be Ph balanced,I'd try a decent brand that puts the effort into a balance.

Make sure you add some dolomite lime powder, not rocks. This gives you a constant high ph of 7, which is good. Epsecially as you will be adding a lot of acids. A lot. 6.5 is ideal, no lower than 6.2.
