Pull offensive threads (Poll) - (Look) RIU Management

OK.... I am staring this Poll, to let everyone chime in on some recent developments. After all - it is election season - so let's Vote

More and more, I am seeing threads being started on RIU that just attack a person, group of people or a subject (someone else has taken their time to post).

I'm all for free speech, but these types of threads - serve no purpose.

I joined RIU to be a part of a community I care about. I wanted to learn new things, share my experiences and be a part of discussions that promoted - open minded thinking, sharing of ideals, successes & failures.
.
Let's make RIU Management aware of (attack threads) and prompt them to kill offense threads. After all, there is nothing to be learned, of any value, from such threads.

Now, before someone yells CENSORSHIP..... Is it really ? or just a requirement within our community to treat others with Respect. A decission we make as a whole.

To expand on the options :

The first means - Let Moderator's make the choice to Kill an Offensive Attack Thread - regardless of wheter a complaint has been made about it.

The second means - Let Moderator's Kill an Offensive Attack Thread - only, after receiving several complaints about it.
.
The third - is a vote for total free speech, which includes offensive, degrading language (let RIU degrade into smut-ville)

Imo they should be deleted after several complaints killing them on site would be to restrictive and leaving everything there even after several complaints would be degrading the site as you said.

Please post an example or two.

The moderators do this.

They already do this...any time a thread attacks another member, it is closed.What threads are you referring to?

I think they should kill them off. Some people think an intelligent debate is name calling. I guess they should have stayed in school and learned a few things.

I have read the rules. I'm not a name caller, but it pisses me off when a womans opinion is devalued because the males that disagree with her decide that she is, fat, ugly, jealous, a lesbian, etc.

Killing off a thread because of some of the content is a bad choice. Deleting individual posts (though time consuming) is the best method. Lets say you create a thread, and 6 or 7 people contribute good content to it, but 1 or 2 people start talking shit... If you delete the thread, nobody will ever see the positive posts behind those 6 or 7 people, because of 1 or 2 people.

If you delete individual posts, you can keep the good content, and delete the bad.

For the most part, this is exercised though.
