i was on breedbay (my new addiction) and found a cool bit of info and thought i was would share it and find out if anyone has tried this method

Cut some willow branches (All willow species produce this natural rooting hormone), into 2" or 4" long pieces (enough pieces to fill a bowl).
Put the willow cuttings into a big kettle (or pot) on the stove, fill with water (all cuttings should be are covered by water). Turn on minimum heat setting, cover with a lid, and leave on low (but do not boil) for 2 hours. Then turn off heat and leave kettle covered for 12 hours.
After the mixture has cooled for 12 hours, the water should be a dark brown. Strain out the water, and discard the branches. Pour the mixture into a container with a plastic top with holes pre-made, and just drop your cuttings in. Let the clones sit in the hormone for 12 to 24 hours (thus allowing the cuttings to fully absorb the rooting hormones), then plant into your medium.
Use as much rooting hormone as you require, then discard the used portion. The unused hormone can be stored in the ice box for years

kinda sounds like the time i was in treatment and the counselors to the e heads they could get high from smoking orange peels with toothepaste the idea was that the toothpaste and orange would create a mold and the ingested mold would make you hallucinate, we knew the ones who tried it about two weeks later after the mold grew there were some sick peeps walking around lolz.

so has anyone tried it? i am going to as soon as i find a willow tree but i figured ohsogreen or one of those organic nuts has tried it.

I've used willow water for years. The creek banks everywhere here in Cali have lots of willows. I've used several kinds and they all seem to work.

I've never boiled them, just soak a handful of pencil sized twigs in some fresh water over night. You can make this stuff as you need it, no need to store it. Around here you can get fresh willow branches anytime.

You can water transplants with it as well, they'll root faster.

Good stuff and it's free & natural!

I think I first picked it up from an old Farmers Almanac or Mother Earth News.

i dont know about anyone else but i find a lot of pride in using things i dont have to buy. growing pot can be very cheap if you have the mindset for it.
