Heres the deal, this is what i know, i learned this while sober, at school, and it blows my mind even more when im stoned.

I don't want to start a creationist vs evolutionist debate. but heres MY OPINION BASED ON FACTS IVE LEARNED! (im a history, and anthropology major in university, and know enough about archaeology to get by)

We'll skip the whole we came from monkeys thing and start straight into the meat and potatoes.

Basically, there are a long list of specimens that are between "man" and Ape. These, although not modern humans, represent our lineage. Modern Humans, (Homo Sapien Sapien). that is you and me, have only been around for 200-150 thousand years. Strictly speaking, the human species has only been around for 2 million years at most. In terms of evolution, thats a blink of an eye. What allowed us to survive and dominate as a species is our brains. Naturally speaking, humans are backwards, we walk upright, have no "fur" (although we are mammals), no claws, can't run fast, and have no poison or sharp teeth, ect ect. Aside from our brains we have apposable thumbs and suspensory shoulder joints that originally enabled us to swing through trees like Gibbons, however are physiology takes 2nd place in our development. Our brain allows us to think creatively, solve problems, and invent tools, build buildings, and create art. Our Brain allows us to take advantage of our surroundings, and learn. In Darwinian terms, the human brain enables humans to survive because it allows us to adapt to nearly all situations and environments. Think about it, how can humans survive in the cold without dieing, we don't have a thick coat of fur or blubber, so we invented warm clothes.

However the greatest adaption that humans have is Culture. Im not talking about drinking wine and looking at paintings. Im talking about the social mechanism that transfers knowledge from one person to another, and from generation to generation. The thing that makes this mechanism work, is language, arguably the most important human trait of all.


If we are talking cosmically, i think there are other things out there, as to why we don't really know, maybe, just maybe, we simply aren't important enough for anyone to visit us, or reveal themselves to us if they have. Maybe, there are other civilizations out there, but maybe they are so advanced, we aren't worth their time. Maybe humans are children or adolescents in the cosmic family, striving to be taken seriously, but just not enough maturity to be of any real notice.

Or maybe we are the most advanced creatures in the universe? Or maybe just a mistake and the only living species in the universe? So many possibilities. A cosmology professor once just said to me in class, " (my name) it's impossible to comprehend so don't even try"
